Hi all,

Tyres looked a little flatter than usual so it's time to check the pressures. The handbook/manual (some 23 years old) has written in pen 55psi front/rear. I'm not sure if this is manufacturer or Bob decided that was best in 2011. Does anyone know where I'd even look to confirm this?

Thanks

Tyre pressures are relative to the load you place upon them. Weigh the axles, know the load index and max tyre pressure of the tyres fitted.
If the load on a tyre is 80% of max for that tyre, then inflate to 80% of maximum UK quoted tyre pressure. Do this when fully loaded with all you would usually take.

I recently changed to 16 inch alloys and Falken all season tyres on my Bailey Autograph. Up plated to 4,000kg, with 2,200 at rear. I emailed Falken with these figures and they gave me 75psi rear, 55 front. Feel obliged to use that now, but seems bizarre to me that rear is so much higher than front, given the relatively small difference in axle weights.

Have you tried it loaded at those pressures? The side walls will have more give than CP tyres.

My recommended pressures are 80psi front and back according to the sticker on the door pillar.
The ride was terrible.
I reduced the pressures to 70psi rear and 65psi front then 65psi rear and 60psi front which made the ride much much better.
I went on the mentioned tyre pressure calculator after doing that and it recommended 60psi rear and 55psi front.
I've left them at 65psi rear and 60psi front as I'm happy with the ride
One of the previous owners on our Swift 590RS had written 5 bar front and back on the manual and on the door pillar. Those are crazy high pressures and well above the max shown on the sidewall. Someone said to me to ignore the sidewall value as this has to be present for the American market, but not sure if thats true or not. In the end I went for 55psi front and 65psi rear (This is the maximum shown on the tyre) and the ride is pretty good.
