Tyre covers

Our motorhome sits in our drive for the majority of the year (not yet retired so limited opportunities), however the recent hot weather and intense sunlight got me wondering how many Funsters use tyre/wheel covers to protect the tyres from the UV affects?

Is it worth it?

I did on the last one. I don't know why I haven't on the current one. Motorhomes are particularly suited to them. Turns a 5 year tyre into a 10 year tyre, and you'll probably never wear them out.

Ok, for all those who cover their MH wheels, how many of you cover your car wheels?

Are the materials used in car tyres fundamentally different from those used in MH tyres such that the car wheels don’t need covering?

Car tyres, on average, get driven more, so are more likely to wear out before rotting.

Likewise, I made a couple for the tyres on the side of the van in the sun. Made out of black plastic 'waterproof membrane' material, and some duct tape. Has worked well for a couple of years. But when they need replacing, I'll get one of these:
Amazon product ASIN B09SH3VBPP (folding car windscreen sunshelds) I'll cut it in two, and bingo, two nice round bits that hopefully will jam nicely inside the wheel arches. Will take 10 seconds each. Good, eh?

If not being used regularly then yes. My trailer has the tyres covered

Never bothered and one side of my van faces south on my drive. The tyres are worn out before they are lightly to deterate.

As Lenny says, depends on mileage. Compared to my car the van's mileage is small. The car's tyres will wear down before UV becomes an issue. With the van it's probably (not definitely) the other way round.
