TWO INGREDIENTS ONLY

Don’t know if this has been posted before, but we have just been making bread. With the lockdown, we feel safer making it than going out to buy it, anyway the bread shop we use is shut because the staff got Covid.

Anyway long story short, we found a recipe on YouTube for bread using just two ingredients. SR Flour and Greek Yogurt. No kneading, no yeast. Just mix the two together. Absolutely brilliant. Here’s our second attempt and the link.

It’s also good for making pizza base. Have to try that yet.

Brilliant, but how much flour and how much Greek yoghurt?
Video doesn’t say.

Sourdough bread only needs two ingredients to make. Flour and salt. Makes the best tasting bread and is a good hobby for lockdown.
Hi Helen, but do you not need a starter for sourdough?
Any simple recipes greatly appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for that. Will have a good read.
Like the detailed feeding times.
It's not strict at all, the times don't have to be exact. My starter has been alive for years now and it's very satisfying to take such basic ingredients and make real, healthy bread.

My effort today.

I agree, but have just made this SR flour and natural Greek yoghurt "bread", and to my mind, its not bread!
More of a scone type.
Followed recipe to the letter and the crust has no crunch.
Will go back to standard flour and fast yeast or will try the sourdough starter method, but seriously not fussed with the Greek yoghurt one.
But worth a try.
Thanks for the info though.

Can anyone advise on gas oven temperature and how long they need to cook for.

SWMBO wants to have a bash at these.

Looks like they put something on the too to make it go crusty?

We tried the receipe in first post today. Lovely.
We used 180c for 25 mins.
Seems ideal for the van although might be longer with our tower oven......

Yes, how hot and how long?
Phil
Can’t help with temperature or how long. We use our woodstove, it’s hot and it took our rolls about twenty minutes. We just keep an eye on it and move and turn it if necessary. We brush egg on the top as per original recipe.

I used the milk and lemon juice yesterday instead of Greek yogurt and added another half teaspoon of baking powder, definitely came out a lot fluffier, not so scone like. It is not bread as we know it but a good substitute, we love it, so easy to make.

I’m wondering if I can use the whey from my home made Greek yoghurt (I always eat the yoghurt too quickly, so don’t have spare!), & if so, what would be the proportions to flour? How much buttermilk does everyone use?

Just put some in the flour, if too much add some more flour if not enough whey, add some more until you get the right consistency.

I might be adding some grated cheese to my next lot. 😋😋
