I thought that was the X244 not heard of it on X250 & X290.
 
I’m sorry to hear you have returned. Only just caught up on you trip as we are away. What rotten luck, but probably a wise decision. Look forward to the return, chin up.
 
Enjoy one of the most scenic areas of the country. Slightly jealous however we will hopefully make it down there after the mad rush in August. So many happy memories of the area, Castellanne is an excellent base for the gorges. We did it a few years ago in a caravan, this time it will be by MH.

Seeing your post only this morning DBK, I echo the disappointment of many posters following your thread. I hope the van gets sorted quickly and you can set off again on another of your interesting missions.

I'm envious we have had to give our spring trip a miss this year, would have normally gone away last week, but had an operation on my hand last week and wife's mother who is 94 is declining fast so decided it's best not to go.

I've no idea on models but when my mate had it here on his Peugeot 2010 in 2017/18(?) they replaced all 4 connections to the injectors. I looked in to it online & the Fiat forum, & there were reports from the late 90's up to around 2016.
it is very easy to do yourself with 4 new injector leads for a few pounds , a soldering iron & some heat shrink.

The first post on a trip is usually made from the ferry queue but it is a glorious evening so here is the van poised on the drive ready for the off in a few hours.

The only snag with the sailing date is we are going to miss the wisteria flowering. We missed it last year but that was because a freak hailstorm destroyed 99% of the buds just before they were due to bloom. This year it looks as if it is going to put on a good show. It is a wisteria sinensis or Chinese wisteria which flowers before the leaves appear. Anyway, here are some buds and a hint of colour. :)

We are aiming for the Banon cheese festival on 18 May. This is on the western edge of the Haute Provence area but this date is only 10 days before we get the ferry back. This is a bit tight so I may amend the return sailing date as there is something else I want to do as we head home. I've booked the ferry crossings as two singles which allows me to do this. Otherwise, if you book a return with Brittany Ferries once you cross over the return sailing date is fixed.

I'll be posting updates as we potter down through France. :)

Very jealous just been told I have an aortic aneurism so DVLA have withdrawn licence . Enjoy your trip its a fantastic part of France
 
How frustrating having to return home again, hope you’re soon back on the road again. Ferries not cheap either. Best decision thought, customer services France less than useless and the Fiat dealership repair service in St Brieuc give shocking treatment, mechanics take customers vehicles home for lunch and in the evening.

Sorry to hear about the St Brieuc garage but to be fair, not all customer services in France are bad. It seems to be a lottery, much like at home. A couple of years ago we broke down on a mid August French holiday weekend. We were recovered to the main dealership in Morlaix to await them opening after the weekend. Unfortunately the Morlaix dealership told us they couldn't so much as look at the van for three weeks and we should ask our breakdown people (AA via Comfort Insurance) to take us back to the UK. We really didn't want that so the AA call handler was great and called round various garages in Brittany to find one willing to look at the van and we were duly loaded onto another breakdown truck and taken to the Fiat dealership at Landivisiau. They were brilliant, despite being short staffed due to the holiday period they soon had the bonnet up and the van hooked up to their diagnostic equipment. We needed a part, can't remember exactly what it was but it was duly ordered, received at the garage a couple of hours later, fitted and we were on our way by 4pm. 6 weeks holiday saved so I'd say that was excellent service.
 
The garage that we were taken to in Carcassonne was A D garage and we were very happy with the service we got there , we have since seen these garages all over France, if they are all the same as the one we used I can well recommend them.

We are watching with interest as we are planning our first visit to Provence, have a great time!

Have fun! Re changing bookings on Brittany Ferries, on a flexi ticket you can change after outward sailing but have to pay an extra £20 amendment fee.

I can't complain about the service we had in Toulouse either when they could eventually fit us in. But by coming home we can be more relaxed about the repair and avoid ending up in a hotel with the dog.

Have a good trip. We stayed in Banon for 3 nights last September and loved it. Fabulous spot.
 
Probably the best decision John, we had the dreaded warning sign just about to board the ferry, if only we went with our gut feeling and not gone, :rolleyes: we would have saved so much money and stress. :Eeek:

I'm guilty of doing that as well, especially when a thread is a few pages long. It happens all the time on FB. Someone posts a photo of a plant, spider or whatever, asks for help with identification and dozens of folk post the same answer. :)
 
Sorry to read about the van problem but I can understand why you have decided to head home.

Trying to look at this positively you will get to see the wisteria in bloom .

You used a Vet at Pol de Leon for Charlie’s 3 year Rabies, why does he have to have a second Rabies jab in a months time?

It's not the rabies vaccination that needs to be done again but the part of the vaccination included other diseases. I'm going to talk to our vet tomorrow as he isn't due his annual jab until August so we may not get anything done until then.
