There were half a dozen people in the sea at West Bay yesterday the fools. A friend of our daughter’s indulges in this madness and has done since childhood. Strangely her Nigerian husband hasn’t joined her yet:giggle:
We’ve swum at Armacao de Pera and Denia in January. It was cold but felt great once you’d warmed up again.

Post script: we warmed up eating a couple of tins of canned sprouts.😉

I've often wondered how good the canned sprouts would be?
I like them in tins , fried up with butter and parsil and garlic of course!

I will keep an eye out for them as I like brussels.

Have a safe and pleasing trip..will follow this thread...keep posting 👍☀️
Martin what were you doing posting at 4a.m.?

DBK Have a nice trip. Such a pity I am not in Toulouse (Balma) anymore. But just in case ... I will take pics of the campsite we have here in Valence d'Agen (82400)and will make a complete description on the devoted forum.
I've been of no use last year indeed when you broke down. I was so busy with all sorts of problems! Hopefully nothing wrong will happen this time.
Just a little check..... : Bonjour Monsieur, où comptez vous vous arrêter en cours de route? Avez vous déjà planifié tous vos arrêts? (Of course, usually I say TU, not VOUS, but wanted to test you a bit!) Tut tut tut, no google translation please!!!:gum::party3::giggler:;)

Amicalement

Frankie, (sans Google!) notre route après Bretagne est Rennes, Le Mans, Poitiers, Limoges. Avant Toulouse nous nous ternerons vers Haute-Languedoc. Après je ne sais quoi.

Les arrêtes nous déciderons par jour.

Félicitations pour la langue française. :)

Frankie, (sans Google!) notre route après LA Bretagne est Rennes, Le Mans, Poitiers, Limoges. Avant Toulouse nous nous ternerons (can you give me the English verb here as I don't know which one it is) vers Haute-Languedoc. Après je ne sais quoi. (here , to make it more French I would say : Après je ne sais pas encore quoi)

Les arrêtes (arrêtes is "fish bones", you want to say "Stops"arrêts) nous déciderons par jour. (Nous déciderons au jour le jour. This one is a bit tricky as it's an idiom). Well done anyway , I could get what you meant, and obviously you didn't use google! Very good!!

Félicitations pour la langue française. :)

How was your experience of getting into the CCP with the new system?

We followed part of this route a couple of weeks ago. One of the stopovers we particularly liked was the CCP Aire at La Fleche south of Le Mans.

Nice lake to walk round with plenty of wildlife. An easy walk to shops (LeClerc is about 600metres) an interesting ranch style demarcation of the pitches.

The barrier was up when we arrived. We swiped our card to try and let them know we were there but it didn't register but a quick phone call to their helpline soon sorted us out and we were allowed out the following morning!:whew:

Enjoy your trip!

The aire is the 'saved' one with the red circle and 3 bars, bottom left.

We just used the card and it opened the barrier. However, the machine where you can top up the card and even get a new card has been broken (with a blank screen) since we arrived.

I wonder if they are going to eventually get rid of cards and switch to a system where everything is done on line?

Edit: Just read the later comment by LesW which explains this is indeed the way they are going. Presumably it is cheaper and possibly more reliable. I don't have a special code to leave so I guess you use the one to enter or as we used a card to get in they assume we will use it to leave?

I might try using a code sometime and see if they send me one to leave.

Thanks, we were there a couple of years ago and enjoyed a pleasant walk around the lake. The aire isn't the most attractive but the lake or lakes are worth a look.

We went for a longer walk today of two and half hours with a stop in the middle for a sandwich lunch. 🥪

We headed east along the coastal path to Port Neuf and then a little way further on to try and find a geocache which has defeated us in the past and did so again today. Everyone else seems to find it but not us!

On the way to Port Neuf we saw this new house which has an impressive natural rockery ("rocaille" in French?) in the garden.

We had lunch here, very pleasant but the wind was cold.

We are going to move on tomorrow, heading east and stopping on the coast for one night before striking inland on the journey south.

Charlie will post something on his blog soon along the lines of One Dog goes to Provence which added to our two makes up the three of us. :)
If you'd left out Charlie you'd be in the dog house 😬
