Rally Twin Lakes, France meet - May 1st - May 22nd 2015

Hi Jean and Graham,
This sounds like a great meet. It's my birthday on 13th too and we intended to go to Italy. May well call in for a few days en route if that's ok?

John & Jan

Hi JaG,
We would be keen , and would appreciate you putting us down as an interested party. It'll be our first time abroad with our M/H:D:D.
Do you mind if I PM you with some minor questions ?

It will be a great meet for sure. Be lovely to see you both. Looks like it is going to be one big party with so many different celebrations during the three weeks.

Pat and I are interested - though we haven't a clue whether we can do it or not  - but as it spans Pat's birthday it may be too good to resist. (y)

This could also be our perfect introduction to motorhoming in France. If we are going that far south, we don't want to rush it, but there is a limit to how long I can be away without doing at least some part time work. But my office can be anywhere - at least for three weeks - providing I can get a decent internet connection.

There is no mention of site wifi, but does anyone know what 3G mobile broadband internet reception is like on the site? It looks very rural, which is a bonus in every way except for this.

Well to give to some idea. I built a complete website for twin Lakes while I was there with no problem. The internet connection in the bar seating area is really good, or was last year when we were there. If you have a directional amplifier such as this, which is what we now use very successfully, you will be able to pick it up from across the other side of the site..

I have an iBoost, so given what you say that should be fine, so long as there aren't too many of us trying to do the same thing!

We will start making plans to spend May in France then. (y)

Initial thoughts are that we would make our way down to Twin Lakes without too many stops on the way, to arrive with you at the beginning of the month. Then we can use the site as a base to find our French feet, as it were; help you celebrate on the 5th & gently explore the area. I'm sure we will have a lot to learn, but it seems the ideal place to learn it, with both the owners & fellow Funsters knowledge & experience to draw on.

Depending on how confident we then feel, we can either stay on the site until we head straight home, or maybe via Parc Verger, which is only a couple of hours up the road, or explore the west coast in a gentle amble back.

Looking forward to it already! :)

if we don't have a birthday, anniversary etc can we still come?? :D

if yes to above, can I go on 95% certain list please

not checked site details yet, are dogs OK?

LOL!!
Of course, it just seems that everyone is filling in the blank days to try and end up with 21 party days - not that there is anything wrong with having 21 party days!
Yes, dogs are welcome. There is plenty of space for them to run around too. Last year I was surrounded by 5 bitches (all with wagging tails of course) and went to the local supermarket to buy a bag of doggie biscuits. When we went to the next site I still had them in my pocket. When someone asked me why I had doggie biscuits in my pocket I said it was safer than carrying sweets becuase I would be in danger of being arrested, lol.
I shall add you to the Interested List and keep in touch.
PS I see you live just down the road from us
