We came out of Dalaman airport and turned right towards Gocek,

Yes this is/was the main road ;)

And this heading down to Gocek, before the new road that I see on Google earth.

And I have no doubt that Gocek has changed slightly over the years as this is 1989:LOL:

We toured Croatia in September and decided to head for Turkey from Umag ( north west croatia ) via Serbia and Bulgaria to the Turkish border with Greece. Drive from Umag to Turkey is approx 3 days 1000 miles.
Biggest challenge was getting Green Card cover as very few insurance companies will do cover for Turkey.
Think only NFU and Saga were the options, we cancelled our Comfort ins and went with Saga for this essential cover.
Returned to UK in November via Greece, Igunamissa, Ancona, Italy ( Goddard Tunnel ) to Switzerland and France.
A very good route avoiding mountain passes.
A 10 day vignet valid for 12 months for a motorhome is about £30 at the borders so we can use it again next year. The vignet has 10 separate lines which you fill in yourself with the date for each day you spend in Switzerland and is valid for the motorways and tunnels.

LV provide Green Card cover for Serbia and Turkey.

Tried LV as I thought they covered Turkey was told they have stopped this cover, maybe if you are an existing customer they will continue it?

I tried NFU in August and they would provide cover but a 40 per cent uplift for Left Hand Drive!

What about when you see these adventure items when someone travels the continent in the van, surly they can’t have insurance that covers everywhere…? They must just get the local border insurance..🤷🏼‍♂️

Of course Green Card only provides proof of minimum legal cover i.e. Third Party

I had the opposite problem here in Poland. There is only one insurer that will provide comprehensive cover for RHD, and as soon as that was put into the quote the premium jumped 100% to £800. I paid it because I am psychologically not happy with Third Party only, which here does not include Fire and Theft cover.

A total loss would not cripple me financially, but it would be nice to have the payment to add to other funds to go out and buy what I would like to replace the current MH.

If you have your mhome insured with a company that is willing to provide a green card cover you are normally covered at the same level ie fully comp but you need to check this when you request the green card cover.
Cover bought at a border crossing is only 3rd party so you are risking loss of your van. Who are they going to believe in a dispute, a local or a foreigner ?
