My 2003 fiat eriba Ducato has the older 3402 Trumanwater heater system fitted .
My van has been covered for a few weeks as we have had a bit of rain so my solar battery says I have approx 10volts power and is low , however I plugged MH in to electric and the water heating system is flashing red when I activate it , my troubleshooting manual says that this red flashing light indicates that power is not enough to operate water heater .
It’s a shot in the dark but has anybody any idea why this may be happening on electric hook up .( I have nearly 13 volts in starter battery and all seems well here )
Gas is on ! .i did have water heater working a few weeks ago but on the leisure /solar battery and was heating up fine with no hook up.
Any ideas .

Thanks in advance .

David

EHU will only charge the battery. The heater control runs off the battery and is detecting low power so won't start the EHU power to the heater elements. Charge the battery although I suspect it may need replacing.

Thanks for this Clive.
Do you mean the leisure battery?
Sorry for daft question.

Try charging the leisure battery overnight but I suspect it'll need replacing if it's been at 10v for any length of time

Thanks for this Clive.

Yes, the leisure battery, as that's where the heater gets it's 12v supply from, via the Elektrobloc.
Flashing red is low voltage, steady red is no gas.

Good luck sorting it, but at 10v I too reckon you leisure battery has had it. :(

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Oh many thanks indeed .
Please can I ask that if I take my van out for an hours good run does this charge the leisure bat’

Looks like a new battery though based on advice ..

Thank you

Driving 'should' charge the leisure battery but it depends on how your van is wired, it's by no means certain it would get a sufficient charge for long enough and an hour driving definitely won't be long enough
For a flat battery, better to put a charger directly on the terminals

Thanks . Battery under the passenger front seat . Another nightmare.
Many thanks for the advice
.I won’t be beat!!!

If the battery is very low it would need 10 to 15 hours driving to charge it.

Please can I just ask ? When a leisure battery is at a good charge how long will it remain so without using power through it .

When I had the battery full through solar charging and I started using it the red warning light would flash straight away and my power would drop almost immediately.
I guess this conclusively tells me that the leisure bat, is cream crackered.

Thanks again .
