We have the Alde iNet Panel and we use it al the time as its very handy especially when out and on way back you can turn on heating and water so its at temp when back. Lazy but useful :) also i can turn it off when in bed using the phone app (again lazy but useful :) )

Thanks Lenny. Yes having nice perspex surround made in black. Just so pissed about it. Everything I read said plug and play replacement.. other than a hidden line in the truma website.. ( from 2019)

But at least Ditcha Pukka And matbic have cheered me up..

Bloody useless thing anyway. I'll get the inet box
Tyne Valley Moho have a new one in

It will control your Aircon as well if you have truma Aircon 👍🏻

I paid £218.40 for my iNet Box in May 2020. I will be taking it with me when I change vans next year. Since Truma’s replacement is a pile of poo compared to iNet one might hope that an enterprising Chinese manufacturer might jump into the gap. Unfortunately 2G networks are disappearing internationally even though they are hanging on here so I think it is a lost cause. A WiFi enabled device is not a substitute for a Sim card one because WiFi does not have widespread coverage, unlike mobile networks.

I think only Switzerland have actually turned it off everyone else has done a u turn and leaving 2g and turning off 3g.

I think Three turned off their 2G.
Three UK never had a 2G network as it launched as the UK's first 100% 3G network.
3G is being phased out to release radio frequencies to expand 5G.
However, as “Smart” Electricity and Gas meters use 2G (another example of joined-up Government thinking: let us provide “free” Smart Meters - actually paid for by the consumer - and plan to scrap 2G!!!!!!!), Ofcom now expect 2G will not be phased out
completely before 2033. Suspect this may be long enough to see out my needs for a Truma iNet Box! :censored:

Suspect Truma are thinking that if their iNet X device becomes WiFi enabled, we will all have on-board Cellular Routers with a SIM card to which it can connect???

Or maybe an additional module that can be piggybacked onto it if no external router within BT range is available?

Well, I'm glad I read this thread, I was just about to order one as an "upgrade", I won't bother now, I'll stick with the CP panel that looks like it's from the 1980s.
Truma are one of the biggest names in this sector but have made some rather really bizarre decisions with this product.
It is clearly marketed as a retrofit upgrade of the previous panel but does not cover the existing fixing holes! I can only think that Truma must be adapting a generic control panel to keep costs down but why does it not come will a bezel? The "no timer" function is worrying, I use this all the time especially as I camp all year round, can you imagine having central heating installed at home to be told that " WHAT sir, you want it to come on automatically in the morning, it's only 2023, we haven't thought of that yet!" I am amazed at how many products you buy nowadays that are so poorly designed, probably by people on a PC with no actual idea of how the product will actually be used.

Also surprised that the Inet X doesn't have the timer functionality. Our 2013 van still had the manual controls, and after a few cold mornings last winter we decided to upgrade to give us a timer to come on shortly before we get up.

When I saw the Inet X retrofit panel it seemed like it would be a better option - however due to the age of our Combi, it wasn't compatible with the newer Inet X panel (confirmed by a helpful technical person at Truma UK). We could only go as far as the CP Plus, and that still involved upgrading the PCB in the boiler to a newer version.

It didn't even occur to me to check that the Inet X had timer functionality - being the next generation I just assumed it would be there still! That would have ended up being frustrating had our boiler supported it.

That reminds me, I must get around to listing the old manual controls and PCB up for sale!

Just like Motorhomes then.

I get the impression that in the rush to ‘future proof’ the Inet X Truma have neglected to ‘now proof’ it!

I’ll be willing to bet that additional functionality will be added in due course but they really need to get their collective fingers out. I’m also happy to wait a while for a couple of reasons; the GUI is so much more intuitive to use compared to the clunky CP Plus; the current lack of a timer option for the heating isn’t much of an imposition as our MoHo warms up so quickly and retains the heat well.

To be fair I hardly ever use the CP plus panel as you can do everything from the app with the older version and from anywhere.

I'm very pleased that this thread has appeared - we bought a Benimar in January 2021 and I thought we were the only people with it!
We've had email and telephone exchanges with Truma about the backward step - particularly the lack of the timers. When I mentioned during a phone call that I needed to set 2 alarms if I wanted to wake up to a warm motorhome, I was was told that "some people leave the heating on all night" !

Well finally the saga has ended.

It's in, it's working brill, but wasn't without it's traumas.

Firstly finding a 12v feed, I took it from the panel meaning i had to locate the box in a cupboard next to the CP just seemed the easiest place for the install.
All I installed and I just could not get it working. Must have checked the cables a 100 times in out in out... phone app recognised the box but not what it was controlling...
Eventually pressed reset on the CP and bingo, boiler was located, app fired in to life and I'm now controlling the heating from inside my house.

I have a sim in it but understand that this is for if I'm to far away from the van... but that works too

I had gas system replaced with a gas/electric inet system recently and I rang Truma when I found I could not programme it. They said they have had lots of requests for it and it could be a future upgrade. We wait and see.
