Not sure what I am doing wrong . I noticed a small leak in the cold water elbow so I am trying to replace it . Fitted the new one but as soon as I turn the pump on it leaks again. Is there a special way of fitting these ?
Thank you

With all the bits removed from the pipe, put something flat along the pipe, such as the edge of a rule. That will show if it has a flare or not. The flare should, and would need to be a reasonable size for it to work.

So I am presuming the van had been fitted with the wrong part at some point before I purchased it because I’ve tried the exact same part that was in place and the same problem continues. I will try and find the correct truma part for the straight pipes but I will be checking with a ruler as I was sure there was a bulge at the end . So frustrating for such a simple problem .

If you have the release tool you could try fitting the black fitting on the pipe. But don’t if you don’t have the release tool as it possibly takes pipe the wrong direction.

Looks straight to me, if there was a bulge the split plastic collar would have a larger gap at the end.
It isn't a bulge. The pipe is straight but has a very, very slightly bigger diameter over the last 15mm.
In my view it's not the correct fitting

any idea where I can purchase the correct Truma fitting ? I literally replaced exactly what I removed 👍🏻

Is the metal pipe going inside PAST the black O ring.?

It looks like the O ring sits ON the metal pipe then the slotted spacer pushes against the rubber O ring causing it to compress and seal the the pipe.
If it doesn't go past the seal it will never seal.
Try fitting the nut and split spacer followed by the O ring on the metal pipe then fit the elbow and tighten the nut.

Thanks pappajohn . That’s about the only combination of things I didn’t try . I will give that a go tomorrow . Thank you

We are away from the van for the night but if the pipe is straight then I presume I need a different part ?View attachment 699556
Looks straight, if it's 12mm I'd just stick a JG 90 degree elbow on it. Or if you have a straight pushfit put the stem elbow that you have on the pipe from the boiler and put your straight connector on the stem and then your feed pipe into that.

Would it be a 10-12mm elbow ?

No, is the pipe from the boiler 10mm? Having another look at the pic and assuming a bulge on the pipe end do you have the coller behind the bulge and the pipe pushed right in the new fitting then doing up the nut will push the coller against the bulge and seat it against the seal.

The collar will push against the rubber O ring compressing it to the metal pipe.
The split collar is simply a spacer between the O ring and nut

I think my problem was placing the o ring inside the elbow rather than over the pipe as you suggested . I noticed the o ring was loose in the packet rather than fitted inside the elbow so I did wonder if I had got it wrong .I tried to really make sure I tightened the nut fully and then noticed I had distorted the o ring which should have made me realise my mistake. The mulled wine probably didn’t help . I am rubbish when it comes to plumbing . I can’t wait to get back to the van tomorrow to try and see it this works . I can’t believe I am struggling to create a water tight seal between 2 pipes 😂

Definitely the seal needs to be on the pipe. That’s only bit that stops the water.
Just need to know if pipe has flare or not.

I am so stupid 😞. That’s why it’s been leaking I hope . I did try the seal on pipe but behind the split washer rather than in front as pappajohn suggested. Hopefully when I return to the van tomorrow I can get this sorted out .

The hot fitting above the cold looks like the slightly unusual style fitting. So back off the white nut on the hot and see the order of components. This will show you how to assemble the cold fitting.

I did consider that but then I would have 2 problems knowing my luck 😂.
Having removed the cold water inlet to replace with new components the O ring was inside the elbow so I presumed the same process to reinstall.
There’s absolutely nothing online to show the process . I will be back to the van tomorrow to try the o ring on the pipe 👍🏻
