Has this been superseded by something new from Truma? Mine won't update, although it still seems to work OK.

Yes you are correct in your assumption .. the new app is iNet X app, to go with the new iNet X box .

Truma no longer make the iNet and will not support future updates.

However if your iNet system works it can function as it is, for years without updates.

When the phone companies upgrade their systems and do away with 2G,4G etc then will be the time your iNet box won't work.

When 2G stops, it'll still work on bluetooth, as long as they keep the app going.

Yes the bluetooth will still work, most definitey ..however if you use 2G SIM, that will not work.
I use the SIM card functions ..status function, and useful on cold days ..lazy git .. when away from the motorhome, to turn on the heating, so it is toasty for when we get back.

And turn the hot water on, so it's ready for showers and washing up when we get home from exploring days out.

I must admit, if it had not been already installed .. I would never have botherd with fitting an iNet box, not even the new iNet X.

iNet X doesn’t yet have remote operation and is a backward step from the discontinued iNet which does. When it does eventually get remote operation it will probably need permanent wifi. If you have the old iNet box hang on to it and don’t update to X. 2g may be around for a while yet, 3g may well disappear first (except on Three).

I believe the iNet box has been superceded by the new touchscreen control panel. I fitted this to my van in place of the original clunky to use Truma CP Plus panel. The new panel is a straight replacement, though is a little bigger so was a tight fit in my case and I had to enlarge the hole in the wall panel. It is much easier to use and is BlueTooth enabled allowing the system to be fully controlled by a phone app, though as noted above cannot be controlled remotely.

Hi all
Just joined the forum!.
i use iNet box and decided to not switch to iNet X in order to keep the remote function so I can operate heating , HW and lighting when away from the van.
i was wondering if anyone has updated their Truma App on Android to the one released 27/8/24 and if any features were lost or gained after updating?
Many thanks

I updated the app. It's not all that different but seems to take longer to sync via Bluetooth.

Updated after being prompted to do so. As stated , slow to connect to Bluetooth. Have reverted back to older version.

Didn't update. Old version still works - and if I could be bothered to put a SIM card in, that still works too.

Yes, I wish I had epgraded to the TCP/IP option when I had the chance. The remote connection option on the new one is very poor by comparison. Although I do have to say that the new local controller in the van is very easy to use.

Don’t bother updating the app. The new one looks the same as the old one but is slower as you keep having to wait for it to finish “Synchronizing”. Truma will tell you it’s progress.

yes same as all here ..
Definitely DO NOT UPDATE ..
I did and the new update loses distance remote, is slower, only just barely managed to get back to the old version.
Yes there will be no more support for the old version ( never have needed it anyway)

IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT

I dont know whether the old app showed actual water temperature, but the new one does. This is helpful.

have updated Inet box and replaced apps. works ok.

However slow to sync and Bluetooth seems to be unhappy connecting to Inet if you also have Victron Bluetooth connections as well.

I updated the app as advised, it did the software update, Bluetooth and sim connection made and worked but if I do not connect after a couple of days the Bluetooth connection disappears does not show in the Bluetooth connection list so I have to remake the Bluetooth connection which then works for a period of time, tried it on 3 diffirent android phones same thing happens on all of them so the fault would appear that either the box or the app times out, I have contacted Truma but have not yet recived a reply, the old app worked fine.

Exactly the same as me. If you don't use it daily, it forgets the connection.

Just got a reply back from Truma.
It would seem they do not think that remote operation means not having to reset the connection every time you go out of the van

Thank you for your email. can you please press and hold the bluetooth button on the iNet Box for about 20 seconds until it lights blue, this resets the box and you then need to try again. I hope this helps

Kind Regards

I have replied with this
Hi,
That's what I have to do and so do many other users on the forums I am a member of, the problem is the new software on the earlier I net box we are using the Bluetooth seems to go into a sleep mode once the phone goes out of range, this never happened with the previous Truma app, perhaps your software developers could remove the bluetooth sleep mode to avoid us having to wake up the Bluetooth by pressing the button to remake the connection after we leave the motorhome?
Best Regards
Steve Drew

I have been having the same Bluetooth disconnection issues on IPhone running app version 4.22.0, contacted Truma who have told me the latest version is 5.0.0.5 but Apple tends to update about a month after they have submitted the update.

Guess I have to wait for Apple to see if this is a fix or not

Not only is the current iNet box being phased out (understandable as 2G is dying out) but the replacement is now running behind schedule and won’t be available until “sometime” next year.

I am on 5.0.1.0 android no problems connecting.

The iNet box was superceded by the less functional iNet X sometime ago 3g will be phased out before 2g if I am right think only Switzerland has no 2g networks left.

It’s the box you need for the iNet X to communicate remotely that has been delayed.
