Morning everyone
I would like to pick you're brains about a trip to Versailles Palace that I'd like to make in September.
What are you're experiences about going there ? i.e how long would would people advise to take to get around the whole experience of it. I'd love to do the house & gardens.
Would love yo hear you're thoughts, hints & tips please & thank you in advance.

You will need the whole day, it’s fascinating, the gardens are magnificent, but the Palace and Marie Antoinette’s “Cottage” are outstanding. Buy a decent guide book and don’t go at the weekend, it’s rammed!!

Cheers!

You can buy your tickets at the tourist information the night prior to going which will save you queueing for entry to palace.
Personally speaking the palace is a complete tourist trap where you are herded round like sheep in between numerous groups of selfie taking japanese tourists and the only thing of interest in there was the hall of mirrors. I cant remember how much it was to go in but I certainly wouldnt pay again.
The Trianon or cottage was more nice as a visitor
But the real winner is the grounds and you dont have to pay to enter the grounds.
I know I am a grumpy TFG but I wouldnt pay to enter the palace. I get why people do and I was one of them but i cant say i recall someone saying they went back !
It is possible to park your motorhome for the day (and night) for free up by the Trianon. We parked on the road about a km up the avenue de paris and that was well noisy.
Getting a train in would be a good plan
Best of luck

Kim and I are heading to Paris via London tomorrow. In Paris we will tick off the Moulin Rouge from Kim's bucket list. After Paris we will probably pop over to Versailles - will let you know how we get on when we return in a couple of weeks time.

I went there the place was full of Chinese I was pushed and shoved all over so I left via the entrance

Yonks ago we stayed at the Huttopia site in Versailles which from memory was about a mile or so away.
Located in woods with noce walks.
Stayed for 4 days in September.
Day for the Palace as others have said. The gardens were amazing but I never want to see another fountain again.
Get the train into Central Paris from Versailles Station.
Another convenient great day out.
