Just working out the covid regulations now France is amber, I think these are:

For entry to France
A NHS Vaccination Certificate (Paper or App on phone)
A declaration of no covid symptoms (On line form I believe)

For entry back to UK
A pre departure test taken within 3 days of departure (I think this can be a lateral flow test and I guess they are available at French chemists?)
A PCR test 2 days after arrival in UK booked through a uk private company (£ Ouch)
A pre completed passenger locator form.

Wondered if anyone else is looking into this and if so have I missed anything or got anything wrong!

I appreciate there is always the possibility of France going Red whilst we are there - but if that happens presumably we could drive into Spain or Holland for 10 days and then get a ferry back from there.

for your return trip to uk you absolutely need your day 2 test to be booked and the booking code goes into your tunnel profile you have to upload your negative test and your vaccination details to qualify for day 2 only testing other wise its islolation day2/8 you also update api/health stuff with your day 2 bokking reference we had a txt last night to say day two test will be delivered today via dpd. so all i know is expert medical is still in business for us... and the cheapest we found. just tried to book a test as if new and still working fine

The Government website says a £500 fine if you return without tests. They recommend you order the tests for day 2 of return before you go. My confusion is whether you can take tests from the UK to use for the return trip, or got to get them done in France. Also, my wife works at a Nursing Home so will be tested when she returns to work on day 2. I guess I will have to pay for a private one anyway 🙄.
you need qr code certificated tests for your return ( we got in french pharmacy) and booking references for gove approved orgs for return (we used expert medical), we ordered 4 days before our return not sure about any shortcuts because to need a booking code for the day two test just because your wife has access to a test that doesnt cut it - you have to be rippied off by one of boris mates.

Yes you can take lat flow test from the UK, test yourself for the return journey. That is what we did

You will also both need to book your day 2 PCR texts before you travel home. You will need the numbers off them for the paperwork, and I would assume your wife work one will not allowed for this purpose, as it will probably be a NHS test which isn’t allowed, is it a PCR or lat flow? And you won’t know the test number of it before you return

I want to go to Italy next month don’t know what I would need to go through Switzerland and on into Italy, we are fully vaccinated, all is a clear as mud
I wouldn't worry too much about whats required for either Switzerland or Italy we have been on the road since 4th June (currently in Cote d'azur) but have been criss crossing Italy, Austria, Hungary, Germany Switzerland (twice) and back into Italy again last week and have not been asked for anything at any border crossings anywhere the whole time, and i haven't seen anyone else being stopped either, its just a casual wave on through every border crossing we have made so as regards Switzerland and Italy just come on down ......👍

What twists my melon is I'm going to Germany, a 'green' country. I STILL have to get a test to return and a two day PCR test just because I spent 40 mins on a French motorway without stopping! How ridiculous is that? I mean, I have to get a test in a country that is on the 'green list'. I could fly there and back without having to do any testing whatsoever.

Even if you flew you still have to have a test before leaving and a day 2 PCR test from a green country!!!

Bonkers! I didn't know that..
Effectively the same rules as Amber so yes bonkers

Green list rules

What you have to do if you travel to England from a country or territory on the green list. You must only have been in or travelled through a green list country or the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man in the previous 10 days.

You must follow these rules even if you have been fully vaccinated.

Before travel to England

Before you travel to England you must:

On arrival in England

After arrival in England you must take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2.

You do not need to quarantine unless the test result is positive.

Children aged 4 and under do not need to take this test.

If you will be in England for less than 2 days you still need to book and pay for a day 2 COVID-19 test. You only need to take the test if you are still in England on day 2.

You must quarantine if NHS Test & Trace informs you that you travelled to England with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Have read all your comments re coming back to the uk from France and very interesting. Excuse me for asking what May appear to be obvious but if you take a lateral flow test from the uk with you how do you upload that information onto the Passenger Locator Form ! Any advice would be appreciated please

Is that per test or for the both day 2 and 8?

My understanding is you get the lateral flow test from a private provider and they provide a reference number and email you the result.

For us the provider for day 2 was expert medical and when paid for we got a order reference cose that we used on our advanced passenger profile for our booking. £36per person inc postage

No doubt it will depend on where you are going. We were travelling around the Lot last weekend, wild camping which we prefer had plenty of opportunities, the aires we past and used for water etc. were busy, campsites looked busy perhaps not full. Until yesterday the weather hasn't been great for the last month but now it is hot, full sun so it may bring a few more vans out, then again it may send more home to keep cool!!

After this weekend it should start dying down...

Heartily recommend considering returning from Holland in any case. Hoek to Harwich also means you are much closer to Leeds on landing.
Plus if your return trip is this month you are able to get the mandatory test for Free curteousy of the NL government....

I am heading to Certaldo, south of Florence in two weeks time for my sons wedding. Although all fully vaccinated we all have to isolate for 5 days as a bubble in the villa then get a 5day test to release on the day of the wedding!!! Italian rules at the moment. I’m also taking antigen test kits from C19testing.co.uk to use before entering Italy from France, re-entering France from Italy on the return, and then France to UK. Also got my Day 2 test kit ready for doing at home. Using French toll roads as only got 2.5 days to get down there due to lack of removal of isolation requirements in Italy. Wasn’t sure how easy it would be crossing several different borders so stuck with just France/Italy. If any tips on an easier, cheaper, but just as quick at 60-65mph I’m happy to listen!!! Thanks

Being a tight fisted git, I would an hour (according to google maps) and go through Germany and Switzerland.
Switzerland needs the vignette then Italian stradas (which are cheaper than France) being the only costs plus using german/luxembourg fuel.

I would also be tempted to try to get into the country at 2355 hrs so that it might get you 23 hours 55 minutes less self isolation.

Enjoy the festivities

Just another thought, as I dont know the rules, can you not just go to France for 10 days then travel into Italy if the Italians accept that as having been in a "safer" country than UK ?
