Hi

As we have a trip booked to Ireland with our 2 dogs in March we have been double checking the requirements.

We came across this article:

It states the need to notify the Irish Department of Agriculture at least 24 hours before travel by emailing petmove@agriculture.gov.ie with your travel details and pet information

Is this correct ?

Thanks

I don't think that is necessary, but all the other criteria if you have it should be brought over in case your stopped, I'm Irish and have been stopped a few times although I do travel a fair bit between UK and home but best to be safe, just out of interest is your pet passport UK or EU? because if its EU you won't require the expensive AHC
Hope that helps a bit and enjoy your holiday here 😀

Hi Thanks so much for your kind reply

We’re travelling with 2 labs both on AHCs hoping to get them an Irish European passport during the trip 😁

Any suggestions for place to visit (dog frendly place with dog walks we prefer remote places rather then close to town etc).

Were doing the Holyhead-Dublin crossing

Thanks again

It is certainly not needed to enter Ireland from GB. I would ask them where they got that information from and to explain why they think it is relevant.

Travelling from France to Cork, Inspectors' from the Irish version of the 'Min of Ag' check the health documents of all incoming vehicles with dogs .aboard.

Musing about it, the only time you might need to email the Irish Department of Agriculture would be if you were bringing a pet into Ireland by private boat or plane. The commercial ferries and airlines would (or at least should) have a system in place whereby you notify them that you are travelling with your pet.

Hi again sorry only seeing your reply now but yes anywhere along the West Coast is good for dogs with plenty of remoteness where we live in Donegal has lots of remote beaches and bays etc they're all very easy to find, County Clare is a great county with a bit of everything lots of cliff top walks, The Burren which is worth a visit, also inland you have the river Shannon & places like Killaloe, but to be honest and I'm probably a bit biased but anywhere you go in Ireland You'll find us friendly and helpful, so hope you enjoy your stay and I'll be first to say céad míle fáilte 🙂
If you need an Irish EU pet passport my own vet in Donegal will do it for you I've got loads of uk funsters them over the years since brexit
They are Old Church Veterinary Doonan Donegal they have a couple of surgeries here but Doonan is the easiest to park a motorhome at
Hope this helps 🙂

What are the road like ? Suitable fora 7.5m motorhome ?

Many thanks again
