Sorry I misread, thought the date stamp was the "use by" date. Can be within 12 months dependent on stock but best to check as can be older?
Some say 5 years but I look at the general condition if your not sure nip to a couple of tyre professionals that have a good rep for advice usually cost's nothing and they might see something you have missed, UV degradation and not being looked after in general are usually the main issue's if they show signs of cracking get rid as not worth the risk, I would replace the lot if they are around the same age aswell especially when you weigh risk versus cost as they are main thing that's keeping you, your loved ones and your prized possession on the road. I would definitely be looking to change mine with a date of 2016 as you don't know whatss happening inside the wheel IMHO.Sorry I misread, thought the date stamp was the "use by" date.
So if the stamp is the year manufactured how many years is the recommendation before discarding.?
Happy Jack.
Yes, see what you mean. With cars I used to keep an eye on the tyres but it was a case of waiting until just above legal limit. I've always been a sensible driver and my tyres tend to last well. Got some nice (IMO) CW5 16x6 5x118 68 71.1 Mistral Anthracite Gloss with Falkens 225/75/16 120 £1300 delivered which I thought was not to bad. From LKPerformance.Yes, see what you mean. But, a van is a differ kettle of fish.
I am looking for new wheels and tyres soon, but next week sees the start of our IOW trip.
If I get the chance, will be doing daily posts.

Done about 1500 miles and 12 weeks old, thats why I chose these and the anthracite colour always have a constant look about them the silver peugeot ones were a bugger to keep cleanYes, LK have some good stuff.
Yours look good but I want wheels which are really easy for cleaning.
Thinking of Supermetal Matt black or Wolfrace transporter Diamond black with Falken tyres.Happy

Yours being 16" if they raised your ground clearance by approx 2" does that mean your speedo would be out, or do the tyres offered have a lower profile to compensate?Done about 1500 miles and 12 weeks old, thats why I chose these and the anthracite colour always have a constant look about them the silver peugeot ones were a bugger to keep clean

Ground clearance is 1" from center as 2" is overall diameter and speedo comes in just below if not bang on so no more setting my cruise control at +10%Yours being 16" if they raised your ground clearance by approx 2" does that mean your speedo would be out, or do the tyres offered have a lower profile to compensate?
My clearance is good already and I didn't want to go any higher as swmbo being vertically challenged would start to have bother getting in and out.
However, LK 15" wheels although OK for load come with 104 rates tyres which are just OK when I am totally loaded although to be fair I got weighbridged with all tanks choc a bloc full as well as all the stuff we would normally set out with.
This would be worst case scenario but very infrequent.
16" Wheels come with typically 121 rated tyres, much more capable.

Which bit is pointless, I must have missed something somewhere???Who cares? They're pointless unless you have run flat tyres... which is what BMW invented them for.
Ahhhh, hadn't thought of that until now but I had noticed the discrepancy between my speedo and my sat nav.Ground clearance is 1" from center as 2" is overall diameter and speedo comes in just below if not bang on so no more setting my cruise control at +10%
W?I'll defo go for 16" now.Ahhhh, hadn't thought of that until now but I had noticed the discrepancy between my speedo and my sat nav.

the wife can manage an extra inch to hop up.W?I'll defo go for 16" now.

It's all pointless, TPMS wasn't designed for standard tyres which can suffer differing pressure issues at any given time on any given day. It's just another gimick cars & motorhomes don't need but when fitted tend to wreck the brains of the owner and stop said owners being responsible and physically checking one of the most important components on a regular basis... It's a bit like owning a boat and not checking your zincs or magnesium anodes because everything seems fine. "The TPMS isn't singing so my tyres & pressures must be ok" type of approach?Which bit is pointless, I must have missed something somewhere???

Thanks for that info. As I said in a previous post I am old school and physically check regularly. My camper looks like it doesn't have tps and I'll leave it that way. I've seen quite a number of posts about aftermarket tps set ups and it seems many people are obsessed with them!!!It's all pointless, TPMS wasn't designed for standard tyres which can suffer differing pressure issues at any given time on any given day. How many owners simply stop then reset them and carry on?
Then of course there's the cost when they fail and or the battery needs replacing, something else that needs an extra premium to pay for especially as the brain box at Kwik Fit will need to reprogamme them using "specialised diagnostic equipment" no less. In there lurks the next issue to confuse our Kwik Fit boffin...
Are they set to the base vehicle specs or those of the final conversion plate? They can and often do differ.
How many owners know if the system is direct or indirect?
The disclaimers are the same for TPMS as they are for Sat Navs. They do not replace the nous of the owner so sorry chum, we're not liable.
I know what pressures my tyres need to be, 3 at the front & 4.5 at the back, checked before & after every trip, simple.
Maybe I'm old fashioned, maybe some see them as a status symbol... me, I don't need yet another nagging cockpit noise from yet another box of electronics trying to do my thinking for me.
.... and breathe!!!
