Rally TOPSHAM RUGBY CLUB, EXETER ROAD, TOPSHAM, EXETER, DEVON. EX3 0LY 16th-23rd May

Heading to the Rally today first one in a long while.
I'm coming from Worthing Sussex area. Does anyone know any stop overs on route. Anything will do from free to expensive.
Thanks in advance Paul.
Did I read we're to bring a raffle prize?
Cartgate services on the A303 at Yeovil just past Podimore services still comes up on Campercontact. It’s free and then not much more than an hour to Topsham. It’s the roundabout on the junction with A3088. Serves the truckers so there are toilets and a cafe. No idea what it’s like mind you as it’s too close to home for us.

Yes you must bring a raffle prize but Derek has requested that it be something you’d like to win so no old tat!

Top of Lyme Regis heading west , there’s a pull in I’ve used or hook farm in uplyme is lovely

Hope you all have a great time.👍
🍻

Bring with you?
Buy in Topsham?

As you wish. Your choice but whatever it is, it will be received with pleasure.

Derek

I have just checked with Exeter Services on the M5 (Attendees will be passing the door)

They have plenty of LPG @ 77p Per Litre.
Good price....

For those of you coming down the A303 that’s cheaper than Podimore 99p and currently there’s none at Sparkford (Camel services) Texaco garage just past the roundabout where I normally get it.

😱😱 I paid £1.03 a couple of weeks ago.

Tip for anyone planning to use the train to explore once at Topsham - booking tickets direct through GWR https://www.gwr.com/ has no booking fee unlike Trainline - saves at least 79p per booking. If using the Two Together or Senior Railcard it's from just £5.10 total open day return for two people for Exmouth & around the same for Exeter Central both 10-15 minute trips & regular service plus several destinations for as little as £8 return (for two) beyond that (y) A handy alternative for those of us who don't yet have a bus pass.

It’s really good value, annoying that last year we’d walk one way and two singles is £5 ! Punished for trying to be fit bah humbug although you do walk past the Marine training ground on the way to Exmouth which helps ladies.

Good afternoon,

A message has been posted on the Conversation re this rally.
Please read and if you have any questions, please ring me on the Tel. No. provided.

Thank you

Regards
Derek

An update on the river trip/railtrip to Exmouth.

I am advised that the Thursday trip is booked out.
That leaves only today and the boat leaves at 11.00am.
The Tel. No. to ring to book (to avoid disappointment) is on the Notice Board.

Hi Derek, just to say that in another change of plans we hope to arrive at Topsham hopefully before 4 pm, regards, Geoff and Carol

Friday night in the Clubhouse at Topsham RFC.

What a lovely day and evening we’ve had!

Exeter with Mousy Dawn, which included a walk through the spectacular Cathedral,
A59C5AE9-504B-45FD-ACD1-0AACBEF268FE.jpeg

followed by lunch and a quick burst of shopping.

After coming home and chilling for a couple of hours, we went for a lovely evening walk to The Passage Inn for a meal with the Mousy s, Phil Taran_Las and quickweh Pauline and Mike.

A walk back and then a night in the clubhouse. We joined in on the second of two quizzes expertly conducted by petenshirley Pete, followed by a huge raffle.

There were some big winners, of which we were not a part.

I will say no more. But in closing, if you fancy a go on tomorrow’s National Lottery, get carolyn to pick your numbers :wink:

Big thanks to Derek & Mary, Pete & Shirley and all the others for making Topsham 2022 such an enjoyable rally. I had planned on leaving at 10:00 but got away a couple of hours early. To those who I didn't get to say bye to, here's a belated one. Byebye for now. Thanks to Mousy, Cliffandger and Quickwey for the excellent food and company. I'm now on my way to France at long last. You can rest assured I won't be thinking of you. :giggle: ;)

"You can rest assured I won't be thinking of you."

So typically Taran Las.
Have a good Franglais Phil. Bon Voyage.

Home safe from an absolutely brilliant meet. Thankyou very much once again to Mary and Derek plus their helpers Pete and Shirley who are kindly taking over next year. It was so lovely to see old friends and make new ones, we do hope we meet Lee and secret weapon Brian Teddy B at the next raffle! They were great neighbours as well and Lee has given me lots of tips for our next trip to Spain.

First load of washing on ready for Wednesday’s trip to France. See some of you in Ashbourne:giggle:

Also a big thank you to Derek, Mary, Pete and Shirley for making this meet a big success, Topsham is a great location with a good selection of shops and pubs. The bus service to Exeter and Exmouth has stops outside the ground. Sorry we didn't say goodbye to everyone but I'm sure we'll meet up again on a field somewhere.
Pauline and Mike

A big thank you to Derek, Mary, Pete & Shirley for all that you did to make this rally possible(y) We had a great time exploring the area on the trains & many lovely, friendly chats in the field too. Fingers crossed it all works out again for next year as so much to do from such a well connected base.

Good Morning All,

I am pleased to inform all attendees to our Rally at Topsham that we have
counted the money arising from the Sale of Books, The Raffle, Bonus Ball and
other sources and today I will be sending off a Cheque in the sum of £505 to Prostate Cancer UK.

ADDITIONALLY! I have also sent off a cheque in the sum of £100 also to Prostate Cancer UK.
That donation will attract Gift Aid from The Government.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
(And, if you don't, send me a Conversation!)

Kindest Regards

Derek and Mary

What a good time we had too!

Topsham really is a wonderful location for a rally. Transport links are second to none, and the walking and cycling routes are very good.

Pubs and restaurants abound, so what with that and the company of Funsters old and new, we had a blast!

Looking forward to FFF (Fastest Fingers First) next year!

I am aware that, to date, I haven't as yet posted the letter of receipt from Prostate Cancer UK to indicate that they have received the money raised by you at Topsham.

The reason is that I haven't received that letter.

I am aware that the two cheques were encashed on 6th June.

FYI. today I posted a letter asking them to expedite the matter.

Regards

Derek aka Emmit
