Took van for Mot.......

Ours is due in 2 weeks hoping it gets through had advisories about beke pipes being corroded, yet according to my mechanic they had been covered in grease by a previous ""mechanic"" and were fine

Taking her to a different MOT station myself this time
I had a tester debating whether to fail or advise corroded brake pipes. In the end he advised them. Also a chafed flexible pipe. The rust didn't look that bad, but I decided to replace the debated pipe. With pipe off, and in my hand, I went to flex the pipe a little and it just snapped with alarmingly very little effort. So I replaced the lot, including all flexibles. Not going to take the risk with any other vehicles brake pipes in future. The original steel pipes are extremely thin. replaced with copper piping.

Mine is extended until december but I’m going to take it well before then

the only issue is if you’re on a Covid MOT and you go early and get a fail your extension is cancelled.

But then that is the same as before any normal expiry date.
Not if they don't find a dangerous fault , if you present with 3 weeks test and it fails on something minor you still have 3 weeks test

On a covid mot that's it , fail = no test

I have always taken mine to my local garage who have an opening high enough for the 3.19metres clearance. They are testing the vehicle as a Fiat Ducato, not a motorhome, so are treating as such. So far been no issues to deal with
Yes,all garages will do that i.e. test the vehicle, not the motor home bits. You could have a hole in the roof and still pass.

If they are not testing it as a motorhome i.e. a 'Motor caravan' then, if it is over 3.5t then it has to be a Class 7 test. All Motor caravans are tested as Class 4 whatever the weight.

I had the same thing on my 04 Ducatto Swift Sundance 590RL last year also other advisories for lights not bright enough. I did nothing as tester very kindly greased it up (no charge). This time no mention of any of the advisories or the brakes!!! Good luck!

I did have a bit of a worry as the tester went round tapping the orange lights on the side of the habitation, luckily they were only reflectors as none of them were on which made me a bit nervous

Found a garage and taking it tomorrow for them to assess the work and give me a quote
IF they are reasonable then will be moving my servicing to them as my present one said they are OK and didn't want to do the job - even though I told him this is enough and I WANTED them sorting
