Too-Close Neighbours!

Have your radio tuned to a really noisy heavy rock or garage type channel and when a van appears to be invading your space whack the volume up full..... They'll move.
Perfect way :)

Or even fire up the genny :)

This French Motorhome fell in love with us we moved so he moved next to us.

Oh Dear! What's wrong with those people !? May be you should try JJ's method! Buy a good heavy metal CD and play it LOUD ... very LOUD!
He does it with me when he wants to get rid of me ... and guess what? It works !!!!!!

:swear::punch::gum::love::p

the crowding effect is a commonly applied technique for pickpocket gangs, and perverts getting a grope.... be aware

Perhaps you are right, but I suppose it's just me, I really feel uncomfortable in crowded places.

We have a dog outside on a long lead fastened to the hab doorway - that seems to discourage them.

And don't get me going on Brits parked alongside - no, I don't want to discuss the weather in detail - I'm in France on holiday and I'm not Michael Fish.....

... maybe that's why he 'adjusted' to it, perhaps he enjoyed being group groped!

To prove my point, an hour after I posted this, our new neighbour turned up. We’re the one on the left. Although there’s a huge amount of free space, he decided to park so close that his trailer is a foot from my driver’s door. I’ll have to back-up to get out!

Found just the opposite when I had the Yanky RV , no one came near , maybe they felt intimidated ,

No not intimidated they probably learned like me that even though so many RV's have plenty of payload for extra batteries and enough roof space for 3000 watts of solar, they have neither. Rather they will pull up, put the handbrake on and start the 5½ kw onboard genny. Great way to stay neighbour free '\

These foreign types don’t have the personal space issues that us British have.

I think this has a lot to do with it. Picture attached is from a site we stayed on in Lake Garda. Ok, we were on an organised tour but the whole site was parked up like this.

EDIT - I had to actually parallel park to get into my pitch!

You left the “view” open to be taken Dwarfland
There was a campervan a bit further along earlier. Strangely they left just as it started to get dark. I did contemplate moving but wrongly thought...no one will come now

Here’s the cheeky L-Shape parking space invader I mentioned. To make matters worse this was a French family with 3 screaming kids who raced around on little scooters till 10pm.

You should have parked sideways on and blocked the view, then we would have seen pics of your van on a French funstr site complaining of inconsiderate brits:D2

Its a strange one this, we would stop at the Exeter Tesco for a fuel & food stop, we'd have a 6mt trailer on the back, so would park in the over spill car park (now closed) at the farthest point because we had to park across the bay's, nearly every time we'd get back & there would be a car or 3 parked beside us! Now a Motorhome I could understand as your parking with a bit of thought, but cars?? :ROFLMAO:

i think parking in a line is much better side by side seems to isolate people where as in line gives you more chance to socialise with vans along both rows

you can always see the positive side of any situation

Keep a few of these in a bag. Park up and randomly "mine" the immediate area around your camper. This keeps people from parking too close "Top Tip!" Inspect the area before you liberally sow the area, otherwise you may distribute half a dozen and pick up more than that! o_O

Here’s tonight’s bizarre parking manoeuvre. First picture shows the car park and how much space there is.
Second picture shows 2nd motorhome along which turned up half an hour ago. Full car park to choose from but he parks in between 2 other m/h’s A couple of foot from each. Luckily we went right to the end and parked sideways so fingers crossed...though I know someone is going to turn up at 9pm and park right in front of us!

Can't win really, there's a post about Aire etiquette complaining about taking up too much room er "pitches" (no pitches on Aires BTW) and leaving too much front and rear space, and now a post about people parking too close.

Come on folks, whats it to be? Lets duel it out...

Pegs at 40 paces I think!

(Get a SOG fitted, NO one will park within 50 feet of you!)
Good idea! And you don’t need to go the whole hog, just install the vent in the hatch? And pretend.

The driver has gone for the flattest part with the nicest view and most shade. Most drivers would have parked in that space - maybe giving a bit more room but not much.

Last nights strange parking (pictures didn’t upload). First is the space available, second is where he decided to go - a foot from
The door of next m/h

A couple of weeks ago we took our grandson to the beach, there was hardly anyone in the car park so we parked right at th bottom end nearest to the beach, wife took young un for a walk and I waited in the car ( mobility bad), I got a sudden need for a pee but we were a mile from the toilets but I remember I had an empty 5ltr container in the boot, got back in the car passenger seat with pants to my knees when out of nowhere this family pulled up right next to me (no other cars for at least 100yards) the driver was looking through his window directly at me,I had to wait for my wife to come back and she drove us off to another spot where I was able to adjust my pants?

I know its giving in to them, but I would move my van as far away as possible if they parked that close to me.
I know kids will be kids (ours are grown ups now) but hopefully as far away from us as possible out of ear shot.
Not always possible I know, but the ignition key is close at hand and so is the road to move on.
How many times have we all found a lovely camping spot, only to find when we move on the next day there was an even better one just up the road.
I have also discovered that White motor homes are like magnets as they are easily spotted, our next one will be camouflaged in Khaki Green & Brown hopefully with a turret on op (y):D

Yes. I regret to say that is where I would have parked too. The rest of the area looks bland with no shade or view.

Sorry.
