Tolls in Europe

I am sure that I read on a previous thread that the rules are related to vehicle roof height and that ancillaries are not counted.

Yep, satellite dishes, ski boxes etc, don't count, an aerial certainly won't

It depends on your vehicle and the route you intend to take. Under 3500kgs van (class 2) Calais to Geneva (ish) one way, around £120 then approx £40 (lasts a year) for the Swiss vignette. Italian motorway tolls around a tenner or less?

Could someone please tell me how they work out what you pay...... how do they know your weight ? size / No of axles etc

You could alter you're route to try and minimise tolls.
