Having returned my TollTickets toll tag after many years l now need to look elsewhere because of recent issues with them.

l am hoping someone might provide a link for the correct one.

l have looked at the Mango following a recent thread but it isn’t suitable.

Searching through Google isn’t so straight forward either because most are proving for Cars.

So, anyone got hands on experience in finding a suitable Tag that they are particularly satisfied with.A link would be greatly appreciated.

Vehicle: 4.5t - 3.4m High.

Thanks.

We got ours via a Eurotunnel link just swop it over between car or motorhome - motorhome only 3.5t but 3m high 6.5long, monthly bill paid via bank

To the OP. What classification do you have on your V5?

It’s just that I’m interested in why you thought the Mango tag wasn’t suitable? We are at 3650kg Private Heavy Goods and a shade over 3m but classed as ‘J: Vehicle Category M1’ on the V5, which is a standard ‘passenger car’ (aka ‘bog standard car’) in eurozone parlance.

Mango doesn’t appear to accept vehicles over 3.5t and 3m high but l will look at the classification again today.

There are a number of Companies that provide TollTags but they don’t provide for these sizes clearly, they are either Cars only or Cars and Artics.

Attempting to communicate with them is fruitless.

Forgot to add, drove through Austria and Slovenia on the way back home in May and didn’t bother stopping for a toll thing, not had nothing come through about it so in thinking that maybe they cannot access our details now👍👍
Result😁😁

Vrio. But has to done via a VAT registered company. It’s for HGVs really but happy to sort us out. One tag covers pretty much all of Europe.

One exception is Poland and a 'tag' will never cover Poland, because it has gone to a GPS based system, so there are no M/Way gates - it is all based on the vehicles' movements on the charged roads. Except two stretches of the A4 with booths which are operated by a private company, but may be covered by the GPS system when the contract runs out.

This system would enable the network of charged roads to be expanded without any infrastructure, or personnel, on the ground. It could be expanded to cover the whole country, thus creating a charging system for any vehicle by the km.

Coming soon to a road system near you???

I think you are well on the button,we know the U.K. are looking at charging so it’s only a matter of time and the Gantries are already in place.

On 22nd September this year I travelled through Slovenia, I bought a sensor 10 Euros and paid 40 Euros to travel there and back to Croatia, however we decided to get the ferry to Bari in Italy so not needing the sensor I gave it to a chap I met who had come across on the ferry and was going home through Slovenia, six weeks later I got a bill from Slovenia for 25 euros because the credit had been used up. So much for doing someone a favour. Although I can't blame the chap as he probably didn't realize.

I will tell you if it works as we are going away end of next week and have just purchased the mango toll after having the Emovis Tag for the last few years. we are a tag axle at 5t and just over 3m in height with aerials on there and also we tow a small car trailer which makes us over 40ft long. MH is 28ft and car trailer is approx 12ft, the emovis tag worked although last year it started to play up in Spain but i assumed that was down to the battery needing replacing but instead of ordering new ones i decided to give the mango one a go as it does not charge you extra to get one for the car which means i can keep one in each vehicle (the amount of times i have driven off leaving it in the motorhome or in the car and then having to stop and sort and for some reason that always happens at the worst time).

As I pointed out in my post about the Polish GPS system, no infrastructure like gantries required for the GPS system, just a tracker device in vehicles.

Gantries could never cover an entire road system but a GPS tracker can, for road charging.

I do wonder whether the GPS system would get overloaded if applied to all vehicles, instead of just over 3.5t as at present. The data collection would be enormous and then there is the billing, unless they demand up-front balances before the vehicle can move - great for governments' cash flow.

I have started the process so will wait to see if they respond.
Think I called them initially, great people, very friendly. We had a couple of issues initially but all good.

Ours has been fab. Quite a lot of set up paperwork but I managed it so not that tricky ........ I just ticked all the offered countries on the application for 'just in case' the device comes preloaded with van details. Been in France twice since having it - worked beautifully to my relief. Our van is 4.25 ton and just over 3m with aircon unit.

I should have added that there is no road tax (VED equivalent) in Poland so more incentive for road pricing.

Once you have a Mango account set up and the tag delivered it’s possible to change the vehicle it’s allocated to online via the app. Just edit the registration number and save it and it will automatically apply ‘within 24 hours’.

Hi Orion
I'm interested in the fact your V5 mentions M1, my 4150kg also a shade over 3m is blank for J vehicle category. I have Mango on the way but worry what rate I will be charged at. Any thoughts?

In your situation I’d give them a call - you can open up the contact for customer service through the app - and tell them that your vehicle is a motor caravan/camping car and vehicle category M1. That should ensure your account is set to reflect the correct vehicle category and you are charged at the best rate.

can someone please explain how this mango device works, I'm thinking of getting one now but won't use it till late January/February, do you only get charged when using it or is there a monthly charge?

Other than the actual toll charges you are debited a modest monthly account management fee only for the months you are using the tag. From the Mango/Fulli website:

The monthly processing fees are only debited if you use the badge €1.70 per month used in France, €2.40 per month used in the Spain-Portugal zone and €2.40 per month used in Italy.”

That are still running the cracking OFFER with free sign-up, delivery, etc., but the changeover to Fulli in the new year might see an end to that.

In Austria, I believe they use Number Plate Recognition, and can link overhead gantry cameras to toll stations and therefore can know if a vehicle has not paid a toll. The problem may be on a future visit that the ‘system’ recognises your registration number and you are directed off the motorway by the overhead signage. I cannot be absolutely sure about this - but I did experience similar when in a UK coach travelling with a school group. The driver was directed off the motorway and was asked to pay a fine from the vehicles last visit. Poor guy wasn’t even the driver on the last visit!
