Toilet thread alert! - Bought a spare cassette but anyone know of a good bag for the full one?

ours gets wrapped in a black sack and strrapped onto the bike rack

No bike rack here.

What's wrong with the shower in your van?

Oh yes they do, not much holding the flap in place. Just make shure when storing a full one, it's not completely full. How do I know?

To be honest, nothing, but I've drained the water in the van due to the dangers of frost etc and likely to get that in north of Scotand in January.
The fresh water tank is inboard under the bed to be fair but Im still new to motorhomes so drained it all for when not being used and obviously no heating on, but not sure how safe it would be to refill and use in winter if we are on a trip and we are driving and heating the van?

No problems when using the van as you will be using heating, we don't use heating at night never had a problem as there is a enough latent heat in the van to avoid the frost valve dumping. If worried and it's very cold you can leave the hot water on overnight assuming the frost dump valve is near the boiler.

Gosh I am shocked at how many do stealth emptying, 😲😲 I though it was only me  Don't feel so naughty now

I use a sports holdall big enough to also hold some antibacterial spray and a couple of bottles of water so I carry it and empty and rinse it in a public toilet if necessary
made up a bit to keep it in shape with some plastic upvc door skin and gaffer tape works well but a bit heavy on the shoulder if you have to carry a fair distance when full

My thoughts are that the cassette doesnt leak when it is situated in the toilet, so why would it leak if you place it in the garage waiting for a chance to empty it ? does it need to go in a box or bag ?

OOh just thought you wouldnt want anything to lay/fall on top of the stored one, so they should go in a bag or box !

See my post #28.

Mine is in a plastic box and sits on top of the washing machine in the garage when empty & the Paddleboard is on top of it.
I don't store it high up when full.

No frost dump valve fitted :-(

... they can especially when getting full, best to put it in a waterproof bag of some sort (bin liner, waste bag etc) just in case, you can easily rinse out a bag or use a new one but if it isn't in one and dribbles a bit you could end up with a wet smelly garage.

I just carry the full one flat and place it flat inside a black bin liner in the MH garage. Being doing that forr 10 years with no problem.

Cassettes cannot leak from the bottom. ;) :giggle:

I don't have to lay down to change ours (y) , I was only laying down to get the distance from the cassette for the photo, plus great if you have a garage, but not everyone has, like us.

this is the one we have yes it s possible to change without laying on the floor but on mine it held with a screw thread that rusts over winter no matter how much grease is put on and as you can see there is a top as well it’s just awkward and my van isn’t low either.

You kept quiet about raising your van to full height on your EP jacks first.

I made a mounting to store our spare cassette under our MH
I also don’t have a garage and no suitable locker for our C4 cassette that isn’t already full! The fiamma underfloor carrying kit is not available for the C4, so could I trouble you for a PM as well as to how you did this? Thanks

Adrianlle PM sent. (y)

Although we carry a spare cassette, in practice it is rarely used. The ikea blue bag has been pressed into service on a couple of occassions though.

Store the used one flat in a sealed black bin bag.

Won't the contents squish out if you try to make it flat🤢

I'm a princess my 💩 don't stink

Am I missing something here but even a full cassette doesn't leak in the compartment or on the trip to the point so why would it leak in the garage, perhaps any bag would do.

I think its bib and braces approach or mind Iver matter when in situ you cannot see it so don't think about it leaking when you can see it ...

does anyone have a link to a container to fit a dometic cassette please?
Minimum internal dimensions L475mm x W250mm x H285mm CT4000? cassette.

Depends ... If it's really full it can leak as we well know 🤢

Just wondering when you use a public loo, surreptitiously doesn't the stink give you away ?
Why would it stink? My cassette doesn't stink when it's emptied. The grey water is worse! The issue in a public loo is far more likely to be the noise. If anyone else is in the building they're likely to think you're really ill...!
