Supposed to go away next week but there is a leak from under the washbasin from near the tap. Cant see what it is. Maybe a split pipe. Last year same place, same time of year, pipe came away. Going in for a fix next Thursday so trip cancelled. Partly my fault, l should have done the tank clean earlier. Other that the Swaffham rally nothing else booked or planned. Beginning to think there is no where we want to go. Mostly we dont visit twice, rarely go to a site twice. I do all the van organisation, and the route planning. It gets a bit stressful. OH says he just wants to be taken! He has no ideas except maybe Plymouth to visit a grave yard. We dont really like cities and we dont visit stately homes. So maybe we will sell up.
What would make you decide you had had enough of motorhoming?

Do what we do just book a ferry and see where you end up, we often have a rough idea of going someware but often don't make.
Much more relaxing if you are not worrying to get somewhere & for a stress free trip don't bother with the UK.

Probably just really bad health would be our reason, literally where is was impossible to carry on. That’s the way we feel atm.

The day I start having to be reliant on dealers and somebody else to fix simple plumbing leaks and the like would do it for me. Leaks under sinks are almost always rubbish push fit plumbing popping apart because locking clips were not fitted. Normally 3 or 4 screws under plastic covers and another in the plug hole and the sink lifts straight out.
this gives instant access to the pipes. Maybe 10 minutes work to do that. push the pipe back in and refit the sink

If I couldn't go travelling in Europe.

In fact no - even then there is so much to see in UK.

Just last week I realised the van hadn't been anywhere since November so I just tried to find somewhere we hadn't been to within 100 miles from home. Ended up in Shropshire. Ironbridge area. Had a great few days exploring an area we'd never really been to. No real planning. Just found a CL to kick off with and played it by ear.

None of that would be a reason for us to give up.

Likewise
Lack of dogs………really! When we lost two of our four, the reason for having a ‘van went with them……. :(

We have managed without dogs for 14 years of motorhoming.

If we had a dog we'd give up motorhoming!

Seriously, we love dogs but to have one full time would stop us doing so much of what we like to do. We do look after dogs -'holiday cover' for a Medical Dog charity near us. It's the best solution for us.

The only problem is we are not allowed to take them in the motorhome!

The ever increasing number of motorhomes in fast reducing areas to park in Spain along with the associated ever decreasing motorhome etiquette on display.
There must be other countries besides Spain worth a visit

The possibility of getting planning permission in the next month, we’ve been trying for over 4 1/2 years, the Lake District Planning authority are ****** well I won’t go into what I really think, we bought our dream van with some of the proceeds from our house sale as we knew after the first year it was going to be a lot more harder than we thought, I’ve spent a fair bit getting her looking better and spent a significant time finding an intermittent electrical fault on the cooling system.
We have a couple of months left touring Spain and Portugal then selling her as there’s no point her sitting getting no use while construction of a new house is ongoing, we’ll just look at a different type of holiday if we get one.

Do you buy Aire books Lenny?
We’re off June to France, 22 days, ferry booked but nothing else, going to head down south France on med.
Just stopping someone scares me as that’s getting more difficult I believe.
I need to have some sort of Aire to aim for so need to get updated Aire book 🤷‍♀️😉

If you aren't enjoying your van, it's time for it to go. If you use sites, it's not a cheap holiday anyway. We go away in the UK most of the time, often at weekends but are limited by our location in the South East which means most of the "nice" places in the UK we cannot realistically reach for a 2 night break. For longer trips we are ideally placed for the Newhaven ferry and love to get off usually with no more of a plan than do we turn left, right or south. We did the NC500 last year which was fantastic- it was a flip of a coin whether to go there or drive the MH to Venice which was the same distance!

Lack of freedom!

If I had to be organised and book a space to stay every week I wanted to go away for the next 12months, I think I would give up.

But saying that, a bias frame of mind, such as only finding interesting places abroad, is also something I try to avoid.
There are many interesting places within a 100miles of where anyone lives, if one only cares to look for them.

I often go to a cheap campsite about 5miles from me and stay for a few days.
It's secure, it's a big field, surrounded by wildlife and nature and it has a completely different vista from home, outside every windows.

So, in answer to the question, What would make me give up my PVC is, the inability to drive! 🤔

It’s not difficult to find places to stay in France,or Spain for that matter, there are aires all over.
The only difficulty we have had is the closer we get to the Med.
We have an old copy of ‘all the aires France’ but mostly use the Park4nite or Google maps nowadays.

“Yep - the day I pop my clogs”.
Here is how you get over your depression. Get the Moho repaired, spend a couple of weeks or more searching for campsites / Aires close to towns or villages. Within a 5 minute walk or bus ride.
Make a list of things that interest you, like restaurants, pubs, football, cricket, churches, beaches, photography, art, museums, nature, cycling, canoeing, horse riding, singing, dancing, swimming, architecture, the list could be endless, make a new list putting the stuff in order of things you like most.
Then make your plans for the next five years, yes 5 years. Match the sites with your likes. Plan the routes, plan the visits, always plan for what you want to do. Then take plan number 1, book everything you want to do. When you’ve done it, file it away, then take plan number 2.. you get the gist. 5 years will fly by.
