Tilting at Windmills (or cycling 300km of Don Quixote trails)

Today was perfect weather for riding. After a start along a rubbish strewn track, we soon entered lovely riding terrain. A good few kilometres alongside a canal to view a castle (motorhome parking allowed in the pines near there, see P4N), then a ride up and over a ridge to our first view of the first lagoon. We then rode alongside it for quite a way, meeting Don on his horse with his donkey (maybe) before stopping to view a waterfall.

We were ripped off for four beers, (lagoon view and tourist rates, maybe) but it didn't spoil our mood.

Our accommodation for our last night is good, and so was our lunch there.

Meeting friends later. Motorhoming friends met on Facebook!

Our last ride today. More of the lakes at Ruidera. They can almost all be seen from the road (with pull in areas and viewpoints). The colour is natural!

We had a few kilometres of rough riding, more suited to our friends' emtb's than our gravel bikes, but we managed. One steep uphill, waterwashed and bouldery climb had us pushing one section, but the rest we rode. This section had been devised by the original author of the route, and he left the marked DQ route.

Anyway, we finished. The cars were still parked where're we left them and we had a good drive home.

We've just had our first cuppa since Monday morning 👍

That looks a great ride, and a nice five day trip.
How did you find it, ie. not in the camper.
would you recommend it?

Super, super jealous as we sit here tied down in fear of the wind and rain.

I would recommend doing a ride and using accommodation along the route, although I'd much prefer to have the motorhome. We can't both ride if one has to drive.

Our hotels were, apart from the first one, very good and not expensive, but you also have to figure in food and drink every day. We used to cycle camp, but those days are behind us now. We need more comfort.

Five days was a good, re-introduction back to multiple day riding.

It's always nice to see something different, great photos and really enjoyed it, 👍I can't see Janie using hotels 😉 probably a 2 man + dog tent. 😁

It was something we thought about doing years ago in Germany, but we was younger without the dog and before electric bikes. 🤔 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️
