Getting there!
My rear ladder had to be removed to do some bodywork and I need to tidy up the mounting points as the original black mastic is now compromised and looking untidy.

I was thinking, remove ladder, clean off old mastic, apply sikaflex 522 to mounting plates and screw holes, refit and wipe away excess to leave a neat finish 🤔

Any tips or advice please?

Sounds like a sensible plan. Why complicate it.

Only tip I'd give .. before putting sika on it place the bracket against the van and put masking tape around it leaving a 5mm gap. Then apply the sika and the bracket . Wipe off excess , remove masking tape and you'll have a perfectly neat straight line. .for perfect result also apply tape to edge of bracket.
