There is not a place in the world that I'd rather be.

Lac de Sainte Croix at the end of the Gorges du Verdon, Haute Provence. Hopefully be there in two weeks time 🤞
We are heading in that direction in September, it looks beautiful. Do you stay on a campsite, if so which do you recommend? Thanks.

Sitting here in my suburban garden with blue cloudless sky's lunching on a bit of salad and a small glass of Chablis, the birds are singing, along with a huge bird of pray circling on the thermals way up in the sky, the occasional small aircraft from Elstree aerodrome interrupting the buzzing of the bees from my neighbors three hives while they attend to the flora.. Absolute love this spot in my garden, I wouldn't wish to be anywhere else in the world. Do you have a favorite spot, if so where is it?
Where abouts are you again ?

In my garden about a mile from Elstree aerodrome. Surrounded by a grid of bridal ways and footpaths not forgetting the Aldenham golf course the village church and the river Colne. With the service of two main line railway stations at Radlett and Watford just 20 mins from Central London by road or rail with international airports a short hop away. My love of where I am goes beyond my lovely garden EuroTrotter. ;) :giggle:

Great place, we will hopefully get down there sometime this year. (y)
A tip for you: Do not come in July/August😳😳
I cannot believe they have not directed traffic around the top instead of letting them come down through the town, was the same at Bude☹️☹️

High PaddyM it is a beautiful area but I'm ashamed to admit that I drive past it but I've not been inside RCC. We are totally spoilt with good quality village cricket where we often watch at weekends. Harpenden, Kings Langley and Chipperfield to name a few are a very pleasant way to spend an hour or two. Chipperfield is a real gem adjacent to The Two Brewers hotel where we can get a cool drink and a bite to eat after the match. I dont follow cricket but really enjoy the scene of village cricket.

Yes it does though in weather like this you can almost hear all the veg growing !

rings a bell? I seem to recall delivering my brothers V12 daimler to a specialist firm there for a new crate engine & radiator along with a gear box overhaul back in '78 or '79
Radlett is just inside the M25. For the older members it was the home of Hadley Page and the place where the V bombers were built. I remember watching the victors and volcans operating on test flights. Its next door to Saint Albans from where the Romans marched through Radlett on their way to Londonum. Loads of Roman relics scattered across the area.

Never used a campsite there. The Aire at St Croix de Verdon or the France Passion Lavender farm at the top of the hill.

A couple of nice commercial campsite on the lakeside (but they are always very busy in season) and a Municipal site nearby (which from memory is not bookable - first come first served??)
