If you’re travelling a fair way and phone a garage, explain the situation and the garage says you can stay the night, then you get there, park up and late afternoon they tell you you can’t stay. You can understand someone being a bit annoyed, I certainly would be.

It’s not as if he just turned up on spec wanting to stay over, the garage said he could.

Exactly and as this isn't my first rodeo and I've stayed overnight in several garages yards I didn't think it strange at all when he said and I quote " if you get there before 4pm and we shut the gates " that he understood that a scotsman in a motorhome in Wales that already said twice I couldn't leave the van with them ....couldn't leave the van with them as I hadn't brought my feckin tent.

The other garage had also said I could stay overnight in the yard.

I initially thought it was a different guy from the one I had spoke to on both occasions, Friday and thus morning but no it was the same guy.


It's no hassle I'm parked somewhere better , I only posted the event because it would be very boring if I posted nowt.

I ain't annoyed I don't really care as long as he does the job and doesn't have me wandering about for hours tomorrow while the van sits there with nowt getting done on it.

It is the joys of living in a van when needing work done . But having been there before I do make a point of making the situation very clear to garages when needing work done. As I did this time , I can't for the life of me see how he could possibly have misinterpreted what I said. I couldn't have been more clear.

But hey ho he's not the first person that doesn't listen or read what I say it seems.

A few photies of Caerphilly Castle. Lot of trees around it so I couldn't get the drone over to the far side without loosing signal. Had a walk around it too. Sadly its got works going on which spoils the photos a bit . But it's an impressive structure. There's one tower that looks like it's going to take a dip In the moat soon lol

Some of the above seems a bit harsh on Northernraider to me. None of us was privy to his conversation with the garage, so we can't really start to tell him he has it all wrong. This is his record of life in a motorhome and he was simply venting his frustration.

It’s been like that for more than 100 years as far as I’m aware Tam.
So it probably got a few more years to go before it s completely in the moat.

Ohh, if you got time visit Castell Coch just down the road , opposite side of the 470 near Taffs Well.
Been used in many a film. Stunning hunting lodge small castle in superb condition.

Tretower court and the newly renovated hay on Wye castle are well worth a visit

Ever been to Llanthoney abbey ? Fab u lous , don’t go over hay bluf from hay on Wye but go around approaching it from Crickhowell direction with big MH
