OK, a new year and a new thread for the Garda trip. The other one is a bit on the big side now.

We have a month off:
Camping International Luzern is closed until Feb.
The vignette can wait too.

I've gone through the old thread and these seem to be the signed up ones, anyone else -- still time, well 4 months if you take your chance on a pitch in Butterfly.
#123 refers to the post number in the original thread.

Hi Brian

We hope to meet up with the FUNsters somewhere on route, but are not booking anything, just in case something happens beyond our control.

Lesley

Hi, Brian

Similar to Lesley, we will be heading on a similar route but probably a little earlier than you but we would like to meet up sometime along the way, we are especially interested in Florance,

Hope you all have a wonderful time.

Hi Brian,

Just to let you know, we have been in touch with camping Butterfly three or four times via e-mail but have decided to just turn up and not book.

We still intend to be there and look forward to meeting everyone.

Looking forward to it.

If anyone would like to meet up along the way and travel together, we will be coming from Southern Spain into France, then on to Italy.

Leggo:thumb:

Hi Brian,

We are not going to book either and take our chances that pitches are available, if not we will find a site further north up the lake. Not sure of the dates yet but will try and meet up at sometime.

Good evening everyone.
When does the main party plan to travel out ?
The wife and i plan to do a trip to Southern France sometime in the first two weeks of May. May be we could tag along for the begining of the adventure.

Hi, not had confirmation from Butterfly of bank transfer sent. laptop got horrible wormy thing, being looked at at moment. Called ANTI VIRUS LIVE. It loads itself without premission, then deleted any protection you have. Not very nice at all!!!!!

Will email them from work in a few days time.

Hi,
I was debited in December. just to make matters worse, my laptop is in hospital, so I am having to use work internet, my van is at John Cross cos another garage put Diesel into my water system on 22 Nov and my insurance company told me last week that I have to claim on garages 3rd party liability insurance after 6 weeks of trying to claim on my own insurance.

I emailed camp butterfly on 8 Jan as they were closed till the 6th Jan, but no response.

I will try and email again today.

I'm not a happy cat at the mo!!!

I'll email then if you like but I need to know the name you sent them.

Fear not, we WILL make it.

Failure is not an option.

We are still waiting for the British postal service to work out with the Italian postal services if our deposit got to butterfly or if it just disappeared once it arrived in Italy. Until we receive some clear findings from the post office we are still in limbo re the Italian job. I do not want to risk a further 50 Euro going astray.

Oh dear, that was always the ( we thought small ) risk.

Butterfly has let us down on this, it's absurd not taking CC in this day and age. I don't remember paying cash when we visited.

It's even gone a bit pair shaped for Sue though it can't be lost in her case.

Hi Brian, I've emailed Butterfly twice recently ( as they went back to work on the 6th Jan) for them to send us our booking confirmation, after all they received out 50 euro cash on10th December!
I will have to email them again to remind them so we are not fixed up yet.
Lucille

How strange is this? Just as I was going into email to write to Butterfly again the confirmation arrived in my email. At 21.28 tonight!

It's the attitude of the post office I am most annoyed with. The secure singed for service looked foolproof, they can track the envelope anyway they tell me. However.............I need to show proof I had posted a booking form! prove I had a 50 Euro note in the envelope. I told them it was a note from my last trip to France. I was then told I had to show the money trail receipts etc on when I obtained the note. I pointed out that this was not possible.............a very arrogant investigator then told me that I could be making the whole thing up and without any proof I had put a 50 Euro note in the envelope it was very difficult for them. However, if I did not claim compenstion for the note they would se what they could do. So from a service that looked, on the face of it very good, it has now turned out to be something akin to a Monty Phyton plot.

I'd be asking for their name and for the name of the supervisor. Ask them which ombudsman you can complain to. See if that focusses their mind. €50, like anyone would pull a scam for an identified bill for €50. Absurd.

Absolutely!:Eeek:

Joking aside, I do. Whilst there is much crap and lies around connected with "things we do not understand" over my lifetime I've got the impression not all of it can be explained by chance, trickery or stupidity.

How many times have people in here picked up the phone and said "I was just thinking of you". It's certainly happened to me. Why ?

Agree 100%.
Also the phone thing happened to me. As I rang my mum's future care home, the manager said I was just about to ring you...

Yippee!! got confirm today.
Thank you Brian, your threat of sending the boys round must have worked:Wink:

S.

Yes, that will help.

When you said "diesel in my water system" you mean the van sink/shower tank ?

Must be I guess, I can't imagine them topping up the radiator.

Nasty, not the first time I've read this but it's usually the owner who does it. If it's a cast iron insurance claim they you'll want everything renewed which will take time.

The *really* stupid thing is for the makers to fit a water inlet that resembles a fuel filler. Criminally stupid design.

We picked out camping butterfly from Acsi book, but it was full in june when we arrived (no booking) the very nice receptionist suggested we use their sister camp site Bel Italia which is on the lakeside with a nice walk along the lake to town. But its not in the acsi book I told her, thats allright just give them this card with my name is on it she said. Well we did and instead of paying 35 euro per night it cost us 14euro! This is a very grand site with five swimming pools and lakeside camping under trees. This site is CASH only and they have two cash dispenses in reception so you can and have to pay cash... I was told that
they have Mafia connections!! and this was a way of moving money about, but who knows.

Hope you all have a great time like we did. look up lake Iseo, not far away and worth a stop on the way oor when you leave. regards bri

Bet you thought it was Christmas !

Yes Butterfly is small and quiet. We only just got in last ( first ) time.

I think we may have walked through that site, just to be nosey. If not that one then another huge one.

Three and a bit months and counting.

Hap hap happy days

:BigGrin::BigGrin::BigGrin::BigGrin::BigGrin::BigGrin::BigGrin::BigGrin::BigGrin:

Words cannot express. garage put diesel in my water system, and after 2 months, its being repaired on their insurance - i'm so happyyyyyyyyyy

I will be going to Italy after all!!!!!! happy days are here again :Laughing::Laughing:

Brian, can we have a list of docs/equipment etc we should be looking at compiling for the trip?

Many thanks, S.

Good news.

Didn't Brisey put something up ? He seems to know what he's doing.

Last year we forgot the ACSI card, year before we turned round 100 miles form home when I suddenly remembered I'd left my jacket and wallet.

You definitely need originals of the vehicle documents. The health card. high vis jacket/s. Triangle. Map. GPS probably. Tell car insurance - they may or may not issue a green card. The Swiss vignette ( buy here or border ).
