We packed up yesterday and set off on a planned weekend away. I like to do plenty of homework on where and what we do en-route to our campsite. So I decided we would stop off at Llangollen to look at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. All went well to the Aqueduct, then when we were leaving from the car park to get back on the main A road you have a bit of a hill. After a couple of cars had pulled onto the road it was my turn, the Motorhome set off in limp mode with a slight judder. I was able to pull over. I shut everything down & set off again, no joy it was still the same šŸ˜ž
Turned down a side road and managed to get into a lay-by, that was at 2pm. I have the Nationwide breakdown cover which worked really. It took a couple of hours to get an AA man to me and the guy was fantastic, had a good giggle with him as I predicted he wasnā€™t going to fix it and sure enough my guess to him was correctā€¦ the dreaded injector failure.
Now came the infuriating part, he needed to know where the low loader was going to drop us, I phoned my nearest Ford dealer to see if it could be dumped there (the Motorhome has a 5 year extended warranty which runs out next month) the reply was ā€œno we donā€™t accept motorhomesā€ šŸ˜”šŸ˜”šŸ˜”. Next was to ring Ford assist which was all automated service (no human to talk to) and lead me toā€¦ the AA šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ so I ended up coming home.
We got transported to ā€˜Lymm servicesā€™ on the M6 by the first guy (contractor) who couldnā€™t take us any further šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø then we were picked up by the AA who brought us home which woke all the neighbours at 1am.
Next will be phone calls in Monday to try to get Ford to change all the injectors.
Saga overā€¦ for now šŸ˜ž

That happened to me when my fuel injector failed. The AA were out very quickly but couldnā€™t fix it. Luckily mine failed close to home, the local Ford garage couldnā€™t take me and I would have been waiting weeks before they assessed my van. I was able to phone my local garage who didnā€™t deal with fuel injectors but were able to recommend a fuel injector specialist close by. Good luck with the fix, mine had to be drilled out šŸ™ˆ

I have a local garage I take it to for its MOT and service, but because of the warranty I will need to go through Ford. Canā€™t see it moving off the drive for a while.

Yes it is a 2019 Chausson 640. Iā€™ve read so many people having the same problem.
The 1st AA guy was driving a 72 plate transit and told me it has had 4 new injectors in his van when it had 2000 miles on the clock. He put it down to standing in a field waiting for it to have a chip fitted (which had the backlog over lockdown).

I really can't see how a ford dealer can say "we don't work on motorhomes" .They aren't working on "motorhomes " but the ford part at the front.
Today Iā€™ve been looking through the log book and it has a stamp in there that had a service in 2020 (previous owners) at the same dealers that I rang up, I think they will be getting a phone call on Monday šŸ˜”

Howā€™s this for a Ford dealerā€¦ ā€œwe donā€™t take motorhomes due to damage occurring on the premisesā€ šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø yet the place is a transit centre.

Sounds like the ā€œTransit Centreā€ in Preston ā€¦. Called in there to ask a few questions when I got ours. They told me that they didnā€™t do Transits as they didnā€™t have room for them but said a dealer in Manchester should be able to help. Not good from a major manufacturer, just like the Ford Assist which has a maximum length imposed by the AA for recovery.

I posted a thread at the time but the same happened to me last October (21 plate mk8). AA attended and confirmed injector failure. Then the fun started. As I was still within the ford 3 year warranty it needed to go to them. Nobody local said they could take it in. Eventually he found a ford dealership in Brighton who reluctantly accepted it( car dealership). They wouldn't commit to a timescale but did in fact turn it around in 24 hours. One injector replaced and recall work completed and report on other injectors.

Spot on. I have found an Approved Ford Garage in Swinton Manchester which so far have been excellent. The Motorhome gets picked up tomorrow.

EcoBlue engine?

All of the injectors need doing if it hasn't already had any changed.

The oil needs changing, at their cost, because the injector fault has ruined it.

There was also a recall to have the cam belt that runs in the oil (and gets ruined because of the injector fault) to be changed. Even if you've had that done, it needs doing again because you haven't had the cause fixed beforehand.

Good luck šŸ¤£

What is the known problems with the type or make of injector used , is it Bosch,Marelli, Delphi, Denso ?????? seems that Ford in USA dis a massive recall on bad Diesel injectors for many Pickups and trucks ,, bet UK is not included also seems Ford has known about this problem since 2018 and has done nothing to rectify it ....

Mine is a 19 plate. The AA man had a 72 plate. The saga still goes on.

Have you had the vehicle from new ? The years '18 and '19 were the years the very faulty injectors were fitted and if your vehicle has not had problems with them before then you have been lucky, I'd have suggested from what I have heard that nearly all of the vehicles of those years have had them changed, willingly or not. Ford said that any injectors fitted after '19 were of a new, improved type, but user reports seem to indicate otherwise.

Our Mk7 does not have the injector issues, but of course it has issues of a different sort !

Its very clear that Ford has not solved the problem as new vehicles 2021-23 are getting the same fault ,,, also no one will name the Injector supplier ,, or where they are made ???

Iā€™ve the Motorhome for 12 months and the previous owners had none of the injector issues. As others have pointed out, this problem is still continuing as the AA man has a 72 plate transit which he had 4 injectors changed after 2000 miles.

I've seen Rob Drew drip tray mentioned on other threads. How can I obtain one? The only reference I've seen is through Facebook, which I do not use.

I have 1 of these off Rob. It obviously doesnā€™t stop the problem but collects any water that finds its way through the grill on the bonnet. This helps stop rusting & water from collecting around where the injectors are fitted.
If you are interested I could message Rob on Facebook as at the time I wanted 1 he was scaling back the manufacturing of them. If he is still doing them you could always swap email addresses and go from there?

I have a 29 year old Fiat Ducato based (SOFIM engine) Hymer B544 with 325000 on the click - still has the original injectors and runs as it did when I got it 24 years ago!

What winds me up is that when it is under warranty they want to "change one injector" When you have a problem out of warranty they will not guarantee anything unless all 4 are changed . All scammers.

Iā€™m interested in a Rob Drew drip tray if there is a chance of it being available. Someone advised me to look on the Bailey Adamo group on Facebook to see something like this but the group is restricted to owners so I didnā€™t pursue it on there.

Strangely I thought moving from a Ducato base to Ford avoided the common problems like this. Wrong again !

We had an injector failure on the autostrada in Italy travelling from Verona to Venice, the vehicle slightly juddered and the 'limp home mode' came up on the dashboard, there was no hard shoulder which was pretty scarey. So we fortunately managed to come off the autostrada and coasted into a small service station where it died! We rang Red Pennant who sent a breakdown truck out to pick us up and take us back to a main Peugeot dealer in Verona, where the vehicle was duly fixed after 2 days and we were able to 'press on'. A very good result from Red Pennant. The garage only replaced one injector and not all four, but it got us going

The Rob Drew trays work but way over priced. I bought one of someone who ended up selling his van so I bought it half price
