It is a pain in the butt to remove and replace with sheet metal. Then it just looks weird. The ceiling height was too low as well.

does anyone know what happened to that american bus being converted by a member where the converter went out of business half way through the job. was about 2 years ago
I remember that, wasn't it an Airstream or something like it?
 
Have you seen this? With a big water tank you could have an amazing shower set up.

I'll watch it now! How big is big? Currently have squeezed in a 250l tank under the sink. I have space for more underneath but obviously weight dependant

I was talking about a hot water storage tank with the built in calorifier.

Go on Ebay and search for calorifier
 
For a 7.5T truck, a calorifier tank with dual coils would be a fantastic combo with a diesel water heater. No problems getting fuel and a huge hot water supply.
At a later date you could connect the second coil from the engine coolant loop to give you hot water when you drive. with a set of valves you could also use the diesel hot water heater to heat the engine prior to starting in the winter. A bit of work, but boy would that be a neat system.
 
Calorifiers arent cheap , other than saving from regular vehicle movement :)

Erm, They are £350-£450 depending on the size and number of coils. Add this to $220 for the diesel heater and point me to a cheaper hot water source please (y)
Oh and your solution has to have a least 20 litres capacity :p

Im guessing it's gas usage will probably be more than the diesel? Thoughts oh knowledgeable ones ?
Not a balanced flue?... I would be scared of that one?

Here is the issue for you as I see it and why I think diesel may be a better option?
Heating uses a lot of fuel. In my small van a 13Kg bottle will last 7-10 days in winter. I have two bottles so I usually plan on driving out every 2 weeks for a top up.
I am only guessing but you may find it a hassle in winter to pack your beast up and drive to the garage and I suspect you also have a little run around car?

You will either need to drive your truck to get topped up, or use very expensive calor bottles.

With Diesel, you can take your little run around down to the garage and fill up 2 x 20 litre gerry cans?

I don't fully understand your set up so recommendations are hard.

I will have a caravan soon, and will be converting my small vivaro as a weekend van (up to a week away).

The caravan will be a ballache to take to the garage to top up. So I am installing a diesel heater in it and a local garage sells red diesel so I will be using a standalone tank in both the van and the caravan.

These are just my thoughts, no recommendations on this front as I have yet to do any of this myself. Up to now I have used a Truma combi which gave up a year ago. Since then I have been using a 10L 240V water heater and a fan heater. Neither are really ideal solutions.

Don't fancy having that flue sticking out the side of my van? Not sure that could be used upright.
Also it requires 240V to operate.

Plan is.. Was.... Hot water and cooking to be done using gas. Going to install a big underslung lpg tank, which I can get for a bargain price due to trade acquaintances.

Then heating I'm going to use a log burner as it cuts back on unwanted humidity. I also have an unlimited supply of free dried logs available ??. Along with a diesel heater for when it's not cold enough to light a fire.

Also. What do you mean "balanced flue"..... It's my lack of knowledge in these areas that scares me ?
