Terry's self build Transit

What a lovely job you have made Terry, you have used materials that have made it look like a "proper" conversion (coming from an IH owner that is a complement):thumb:
( I know you paid her) but the lady that did your upholstery I think deserves a bunch of flowers as the seating looks very nice
She did not want paying anything but I know what she charges and I have forced her to take the money plus £100 on top so she can buy her own flowers :thumb::BigGrin:-worth every penny

arrrg I have just read your like john and realized I still have not put the two bits of trim on the door

I have bought and sold many vans and caravans over the years and typically the first sensible person to see it will buy it. dont undersell the quality though as it is a very desirable vehicle. soon be looking for the next project van at this rate:thumb:

well done terry, you and your mates have done a superb job

Looks a good job Terry
I've a SWB pro conversion but if I ever replace it I may DIY and I'd be happy with your standard.
Do you have any more info, spec, price, howto etc and did you plan to sell?
If I went bigger than SWB, I'd want a garage at the back (full height) - to maybe hang bikes or snowboards. Is that possible do you think?

Anyway - nicely done - I will bookmark your thread

Bikes and snowboards are no problem provided the van you choose is big enough to get the layout you want -in fact on this van you have about 5 ft wide at the top by 4 ins tapering to around 8 or 9 ins at the bottom x 6ft ish high so a snow board would fit easy  you would have to remove handlebars and pedals and poss front wheel for a push bike -
Yes it was always going to be sold but it's been more of a project to occupy my time since my wife died on Jan 30th- I wanted to do another for the last few yrs but all I got was there's nothing wrong with the one we have so I am not putting up with the mess-she was right about the mess :BigGrin:
Spec wise everything in it is new

misc boards for floor etc 100
100 ltr threatford 3 way fridge 600
fridge vents 40
Truma 602 combi boiler -a bit of over kill in a van this size  1900

Dometec loo 350
Smev cooker/sink 300
2 roof lights 100
Avtec dvd/tv 300
AVTEC INDOOR ARIEL --very very impressive bit of KIT :thumb: 40
water tanks 160
loo sink plus shower combi taps 95
Contract flooring for van and wet room 180
5 spot lights 4 x 12v leds 1 x 240v 100

various screws/trims hinges/ catches, handles etc 300
upholstery??????? I don't think any one would object if I don't put the price but lets just say well, well under £1000 -NOT MY BUSINESS TO PUT PRICES ON SOMEONE ELSE'S WORK -I am sure i will have missed lot's of thing s used off the list but to within a couple of hundred I think I have covered most of it -I have not added it all up but I think it's around 6 k ish -anyone got a calculator nearby ?
edit I did make it all as a simple straight forward list to add up but fun missed all the spacing when posted

The sales fell through :Smile:At least the lady came today and told me she could not raise all the money -she thought she could have borrowed a couple of k off her mother but got knocked back -She said they get some money come September and if I still have it she will definitely be back :Smile:I told her there will be another couple before then so who knows :BigGrin:I appreciate it must have been embarrassing for her to say no money so thanked her for coming to tell me and told her not to worry or feel a fool /bad (her words)-these things happen :thumb:
Now I am going to stick it on a classified add for a bit more and see what it brings :Smile:if it sells I get more and if not I can always take less than it's up for

 Hope you are right :thumb: I have already started to look at vans for the next one :BigGrin:Will have a few days away in my van or poss try out the new one, but then it would not be a new unused conversion --Tried heating /fridge water etc on drive for a few hours and everything work as it should :thumb::Smile:

You've done a grand job Terry. It looks great. Cabinets look very professional and I like the graphics too :thumb:
I'm sure you'll sell it to the first person wanting a conversion.
Think on though , misterton is just a camp site (field ) at the back of a house in a little village.
It's not a sales , as in show meet.
As there's so many funsters going , and I think Sheila said they were going to close it to the public for the weekend too. So unless any funsters gave expressed an interest , or you fancy a weekend in it . It might be worth noting.

Just one thing (hope you don't mind me saying cosmetic woman's p.o.v. ) gather the string in the curtains then they will lay flatter in the runner:thumb: looks better.

Finished van looks great Terry

(and thanks for showing the rest of us self builders up ....... 5 weeks?)

If I ever decided to have a new van built you would be at the top of my list Terry:thumb:

looks very good Terry:thumb:

one minor concern though it may be an optical illusion....will the boiler fit through the cupboard door if it needs repairing?

Hi David thanks for all your help with the blog :thumb:I could never have done anything near what you have done :thumb:Now all I have to do is figure out how I use it and to link it to here :Smile:That will come later :Wink:It was more than 95 % done in 4 weeks :BigGrin:

yes it will fit simply because you can also take out the partion on both the side and base to get easy access and if push came to shove the whole front is only held in place with half a dozen screws -- It was thought about -honest :thumb::BigGrin:It was originaly going to go under the bed -too high then into the bottom of the wardrobe and ended up under the sink -If you look at the pics the sink cupboard changed twice :Eeek: the first was going to have a drawer but the boiler going under forced a rethink :BigGrin:
