So coming back to UK from France spending a week in Bath. Do I need to get the mutt another tape worm tablet when entering Ireland via Holyhead Dublin route. This would mean two tape worm tablets and fees in a 7 day period!. Help.

Update, today paid €39.19 for Cestem f xl treatment. The vet we usually see wasn't there. He was the one that asked us to make a donation rather than pay last time.

must remember to book him specifically next time 😀

My last one I posted above was spain, and then I zoomed up through and straight to Calais.
but I also used the popular ones around northern france in the past. If you tell the vet the dog is anxious most will let you administer later
here is a map of vets kindly posted by a MH fun member

thank you very much

12.5mg of milbemycin
12.5 mg of praziquantel
all in one tab for dogs of 5-25kg Minxy
That'll be why they were so expensive as they go up to 25kg and will cost the vet more to buy in. The last time we used the ones from the Buchy vet the cost for 5* tablets and a consultation came to €39 (* 1 tablet for Bella as under 5kg and 2 tablets for Minky and Tazzy as both between 5-10kg).

The tablets we use normally are Drontal Tasty Bone and cover dogs up to 10kg per tablet, they cost about £1.67-£1.70 each from on-line suppliers so we get a few at a time along with some tummy med for Tazzy too thus we get free postage.

I must add...the 2 ingredients were in 1 tab. But they did seem quite big too.

I think that would invalidate your EU pet passport!
Incorrect, a UK vet can write stuff in the EU PP but ONLY in the worming and health check sections, nothing else.

I’m still confused by all this. I got our dog a French passport last year whilst staying with a mate of mine that moved permanently to France over 12 years ago. Everything on the passport including his historic 3 year rabies jab which runs out next year. I’m travelling to Fre jus southern France in May. What do I have to do this time to enter France, I’m paranoid about someone outside the EU writing in his passport and voiding it

No problem, just use the EU PP and show that as it's still valid with the rabies jab being in date, there's no need for anyone to enter anything in it until you get a new rabies jab done in France and the worming for your return to the UK. You could leave both to be done together before you return to save 2 consultations as you don't have to wait for 21 days after the rabies jab due to it being a booster. Which way will you be travelling back to the UK? Will you go via Buchy?

Moss, As long as your rabies jabs are in date there is nothing else to do, returning to UK / Ireland you have to have the worming tablet but as this is done by an EU vet they will be the only ones writing in your Pet Passport. You will need to plan ahead to ensure you are in the EU to get the rabies vaccination updated before it runs out next year.
