Tank Filling Problems

Four things you will have.
An inlet for fresh water.
Outlet to pump
Overflow
Sensor wire .

Something is causing a bubble above the filler neck that isn’t being vented. Annoying isn’t it?
It's just the overflow that's missing, still 3 out of four isn't bad for a newbie, eh? 😎

Here's one for you....Put one in! A 90 degree screw in plastic fitting at the top where you can get to it. A plastic hose over the side through the floor to drain away to ground. Job sorted! (y) ;)

That was going to be my next post👍
This is France you know..... 🤪 It could take weeks to get a fitting delivered!

Good idea, both of you! I think I've got a 90 degree crankcase vent from a trials bike I could silicone in (what's a little more....).

I'll keep hunting tomorrow, fire off an email to Rapido here (one of the techies is English) and then visit the local dealer on Tuesday. If all else fails then I'll try the Carolyn and Kev/David and Sally Mod.....

Thank you both for your time and your help, it is very much appreciated.

Worst case. A small hole in the top of the tank and a rubber bung once you have filled the tank.?

Just another thought, the tops of the tanks on both our current and previous vans are accessible through traps in the floor that are normally covered by carpet. Just a thought in case yours are the same. I can then unscrew a large cap and see right into the tank.

Just in case it’s possible, there isn’t something blocking the tank inlet pipe is there, like a fitting that has come off the end of a hose used to fill it. I’ve heard of this happening before and not letting a tank fill with water coming back up the filler pipe. Just a thought and easy to check.

Thanks for the reply
Unfortunately the only access is underneath the bed having first dismantled the bed and wardrobes.... There are two large access holes in the side of the tank but to use those you first have to drain the tank.....

Luckily the filler hose is almost clear and as far as I can see there's nothing in it. It does bend quite acutely as it enters the tank, so that's possible but it did fill fine until it got to a level above the filler hose. After that I just seemed to be fighting air.

Problem solved!
Two people on the French Rapido group confirmed that the blue pipe is a vent and gets blocked easily. Mud or even critters crawling up and making a nest can block it. A quick poke with an old coat hanger and the tank filled. Interestingly hardly anything came out, which might suggest I had a blockage on a bend in the pipe.
Thank you to everyone who replied, with a special mention to Carolyn and Kev and David and Sally for spending the evening with me 😳 last night trying to sort it. I hope we meet one day.

Might also suggest that whatever the blockage was, is now in your tank? 😊

Yes indeed, however I'm cleaning the tank so will be dumping everything. I also only went in so far with the hanger and then filled the tank until it overflowed from the pipe, hopefully washing anything away.
There is a large access 'port' on the side of the tank so I might be able to get an arm in there and check.
