Tam & co the great winter escape

Ok so slight update . Aa not arrived yet eta 2.15

Finally got a call from the seller .

"Dont be like that bruv ...i was nightshift last night i told you that ". Says its only done this once before . Said to take engine cover off and use manual pump to pump diesel through...ive done that and it does fire up but cuts out again

So hes coming out to help says he will be here in 30 minutes.

How is the rest of the van Tam, no rust issues? All happy with condition overall?

Its what i expected for this age of vario ... interior is basic , bodywork isnt bad , underside much the same as the other one was. Drives ok too for a basic van .

It seems the knob i turned thinking it was the windscreen washer is like a cold start choke thing ...so that's most likely what caused the problem . I can get it to start at the minute but it wont idle and wont rev so theres either air in the system or this knob needs set in a particular place.

Bloodh6 nightmare , im melting in the heat and really need a drink and some food .

My sister has the dogs so they are ok ...but i just want home.

No sign of AA yet? They are usually pretty good with their ETA around here. I'm still happy to drive over and bring food and drink but AA might have you on your way before I can get there. Next junction of motorway is Stokenchurch village. There is a petrol station and other shops should you get sorted and want supplies before a long drive home.

The aa is here now but with a low loader. He's going to take me to oxford services at the minute and the seller will meet us there. Hopefully between them they get it going . Ill at least get a drink and something to eat . Wasn't sure it was going to go on this truck but it did

This is a hotspot for breakdowns theres 4 of us here at the minute ...one lowloader with a merc car on it just got a blow out ...police here too as theres debri on the road. Busy place

Not eaten since last night and trying to order food in the services is kike the kyrpton factor ...heaven forbid a human takes your order ..im ready to collapse

That's some mirror set up on that Low Loader, every angle seems to be covered, very impressed.
Lovely Crew Cab also, If it recovered a twin axle caravan, then it would be like having an instant MH, but I wouldn't like the fuel bill.:giggle:
Hope you get some grub doon yer neck soon, and they sort out the diesel problem out, strange that diesel button, never heard of a choke type control on a van, did your last van have similar?

Safe journey.

Just be careful with time on services Tam. Couple of years ago I pulled in at Doncaster services to walk the dogs and get food, when I came to leave the step wouldn’t retract. As it was raining and late I pulled it under fuel area canopy after letting them know I had a problem.
Garage staff were fine and even gave us a few cups of coffee while I tried to sort it. Ended up having to disconnect the electric motor and cable tying the step in so I could continue.
Few weeks later I go two parking charge notices, one for van and one for the car Mrs was driving. Appealed both but had to pay the reduced £60 each even though car had blue badge showing. It never even crossed my mind that I had to pay for extra parking time but am always aware now 👍

Safe journey but please don’t fall asleep as it’s been a very long fraught day

Oh Heck Tam what a roller coaster everything crossed 🤞 for a trouble free journey home.

Northernraider Tam, I know your hoping / need to get home tonight for the dogs, but if you decide you need to break up the journey, I'm 5 minutes off the M6 junction 16.
I can offer you off road parking, ehu and some food, tea, coffee etc.
Let me know if you decide on a stop 👍

What a day! And then having to fill up at services watching that clock rolling the £££s up, bet you got a sweat on😉
Safe journey from here on.
