Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

Its all a bit chaotic here today

The other day there were rumours that the police had came and took 2 different people from here to the police station for camping ... apparently they dont mind you parking here but like spain you're not allowed to camp

But everyone here has tables chairs etc outside ...

So up till now theyve taken maybe 5 or 6 people to the police station but from what we hear no one has been fined ....some have said they have to to before a judge when they get a summons ....but being a grapevine story no one is sure of the facts

So anyway They now drive through every day lol ...but as its mostly french and germans here no one is stopping eating outside ...

So we were just having lunch there and someone comes rushing along on a bike shouting the police are coming lol

Its hilarious watching everyone rush to hide tables chairs etc ...

We had 3 tables out full of food lol everyone grabbed something and ran and hid it in vans lol .....as the police drive slowly past we are all looking innocent ha ha

Its nuts ....bored police and 60 -100 campers lol

Then they leave and all the tables and chairs come back out 🤣🤣

Ive just found out the french all have a facebook page and an alert system set up 🤣🤣🤣 so there is a french van at either end and as soon as a car turns up they put an alert out and everyone gets a ping 🤣🤣

The lengths they go to protect al fresco 🤣🤣

Brilliant

A little added excitement for you! Until I read your info on another post i had no idea Greek lockdown was so strict. That's a real bummer about the 1k radius. I hope things get lifted soon so you can have a bit more freedom.

Yeah its not 1km radius here but essential travel only .
I only really need to food shop once every week or two as ive enough to manage

Its a shame to be stuck one place but i was always aware that could happen so its cool at least im not on my own

That said around 20 or so vans have left here in the last 24 hours so its getting quieter

I dont think the Greeks have a 'table and chairs outside' rule like some other euro countries. All forms of camping or overnight parking are prohibited outside of campsites in Greece. No idea why they would just pick a few though and take them to court, thats discrimination :giggle:
In general we've found they will turn a blind eye to most off grid parking unless the numbers get too many, perhaps they are waiting for the end of lockdown and they will boot you all off. :ROFLMAO:
We were given a warning at Karathona beach and told to move on a few years ago, so we moved a few kms up to a little spot at the top of the bay for the night no problem, the police drove by that evening too but never batted an eyelid.

They apparently claimed they dont have time to take everyone

I think they are just bored

Problem is i think thats why a lot of vans have now moved which in my opinion just creates more problems.

But not my problem ill stay till im allowed to move or im told to

I knew France would grow on you 😁

bonne journée
Im not in France....although with the amount of french people here i could well be lol

I was thinking that moving people who haven't got anywhere else to go is just transferring the problem elsewhere. At least where you all are they can keep control.
Anyway. Lets hope you can stay - even if it seems like groundhog day sometimes.
It definitley IS groundhog day here in the UK and I know where I'd rather be!

Yeah they don't seem to be moving people at the minute they just bothering people for having tables out etc ....but theres not just motorhomes here there are car and caravan , 4x4 with roof tents , trailers etc so to be honest some have to eat and cook outside.

I think the ones who have moved on just dont want the hassle of having to keep watching for the police.

But likewise i think it just adds to a problem ....during a lockdown you want people moving as little as possible.

Id be lying if i said i wouldnt rather be touring about visiting places but im happy enough at the minute to ride out the lockdown here. I just hope it doesnt last too long.

But yes definitely better here than at home and its cheap lol as only food to buy really.

We had 18 drops of rain around 5pm today

But supposed to be back to warm snd sunny tomorrow

ένοχος ή όχι ένοχος. πρόστιμο 100 ευρώ. φυλάκιση ενός μηνός.
A few short sentences to learn. May help when you are taken to the Police Station. 😂

Then go where you want within region ....lot more than 1KM.... Mani or further...lots of wild camping.... move on every 4 or so days and police ignore you. Water standpipes at edge of road if you look carefully....

How do you tactfully tell a frenchman he shouldn't feed his dog cooked chicken bones?

We’ve never given our dogs chicken bones but Ive known several folk who have done it regularly over many years with no ill effects. I think I read somewhere that it’s not so high risk if the chickens are young/small. When you consider how a lot of chickens are reared nowadays i.e. intensively for rapid growth and dispatch,it’s a wonder there bones aren’t rubbery! I would guess more dogs are injured through damage from stick fetching, which keeps many a vet busy.

Anyway, are we getting any pics today?!

Did you tell him why you refused?
then it’s just your decision with the information you have
doesn’t have to imply criticism but opens up an opportunity for him to have infirmation

I did sort of ...i just said id read they were bad for dogs so I preferred to give them uncooked bones

I did offer him one of my dogs bones but he declined

Fair enough .

To be honest theres probably loads of street dogs who survive on cooked bones scavenged from the trash and survive ok

But ill stick to raw ones for mine ....i dont need the vet bills lol
