Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

Looked out for you on the A1 today Tam.
It was a tad windy but a tail wind most of the time which does wonders for the fuel consumption, over 30mpg today.
Those dogs are proper posers when there’s a camera about.
Keep safe.

Richard.
I passed a cathargo in a services at one point which I wondered if it was you or not ...it was sitting at the petrol pumps ...
It was very windy there was a few open bits with a side wind had me gripping the wheel a few times 😁

Colonel Dane Memorial Hall ?
The Cuckoo pub is close by if you want/need a pint - not cheap though
...and there's a 'recognised' park-up less than a couple of miles up the main road if you're not comfortable where you are.
That's right I'm literally just down the street from the cuckoo pub but it looks closed at the minute.

So tonight's stop ....did well today that was a good couple of hundred miles
Departing mileage 109307
Arriving mileage 109554

And we went for a walk down by the river .....spotted one of the characters from Kung Fu Panda 😁 and then we managed to get lost on the way back lol

I’m not a Scot but even so I don’t fill at motorway service areas. Faaaaar to expensive for me. :Eeek:
We filled up just before hitting the A1 then just a quick 'comfort break' near Newark and home.

Richard.

Watching you on polarsteps. Seems to be a lot of wandering around Alwalton, is that dog walking.
We are stuck here waiting, probably in vain, for swmbos hospital appointment, otherwise we would normally be in Spain hoping to catch the tail end of the years UV, so your travels are a vicarious pleasure.

Yeah that would be the dog walk ...I never knew it tracked that closely lol

Shame about the hospital appointment...hope it comes soon so you can escape winter

Glad you're sorted and back on the road Tam. I'm some way ahead of you on a similar path, currently in Dubrovnik and heading into Montenegro tomorrow, then Albania (where I will need to buy insurance as no green card) before heading across to Corfu. Never done this route before, always taken the ferry from Italy to either Igourminitsa or Patras so this is all new to me but its been a good journey so far with no tolls. If you want a heads up on anything, let me know. Have a great trip 👍

Looks like you're doing the same route as me then ...have you had any issues?
And any good tips for places to visit?

No issues though the van went into some kind of limp mode in Austria which meant I had 5th gear only (its a 9 speed auto) and no reverse but that's gone away now, just a glitch I hope. Other than the obvious Mosselle, Romantic Road and Alpine Strase routes which are well documented both on this forum and elsewhere I thought Munich and Salzburg were great cities to visit. I'm sure there are different ways of crossing Austria and Slovenia avoiding tolls but the roads I took were both spectacular and at times arduous, literally hairpin city. Croatia has been mainly beach stops, I would highly recommend Zadar, great place and the sea organ a d Salutation to the Sun are (for me) super things to experience. Done a bit of snorkeling too if that's your thing, nothing big to see but plenty of smaller and colourful fish to make it worthwhile. Just this moment heard from a Dutch neighbour parked nearby that Greece is not allowing any transit arrivals from Albania which scuppers my plan if this is correct, its a long detour if I get to the Greek border and they won't let me in.

the van is just 1 year old so no cost to me , BUT the hole idea of getting a new van was to have no problems
whilst travelling, I knew I should have bought an older van 🥺
That's terrible ...I hope they compensate you for inconvenience.

That's bad news, I hope you get it sorted. Are you in a hotel now?

yeh now in a hotel , I asked for A small car & ended up with a Citroen Picasso, With the left hand drive I’m not judging Center of the road well , Only had it 5 hrs , narrow roads & high kerbs , I’ve Hit the near side alloy wheel of kerbs twice ,Think I’m going to get big repair bill 🥺
