Tam and Toby ~~ Hunting Zorba .....Take two.

I think that's one adventure/experience I will happily forego!

Mount Etna on Sicily has been grumbling away for a few weeks now, I wonder if it's all connected ?

Moved further north and closer to patras today ...left jackie at Elea

Ive a nice wee spot on the beach ....and only a 40 minute drive from here to the port via lidl for my final shop to see me home.

Mind you don’t get stuck in the sand/mud !!! Doesn’t look like there’s anyone close to pull you out. Looks like an idyllic spot.

Safe journey home! :giggle:

Yeah theres nowone here which is nice ....few locals have come and gone but no other vans .....ground is quite firm though thankfully

His van is always blooming shiny !! I reckon he polishes it every week. :giggle:
Nope it hasnt been polished since last march ....i did give the roof a wash and wax the other week to stop all the crap on my windscreen but other than a plain water wash at gialova ive not been doing it. But it did get a good polish and 2 coats of wax last year so it stays quite clean 😁 ill give it a good polish and wax again when im home and a proper hoover out inside too.
Gotta look after your house 😁

I have suffered with "car sickness" since childhood. My parents could reduce me to instant nausea at the site of "Quells" travel pills (other brands aree available). I graduated to sea-sickness as a teenager whilst working on Sark CI. and can be queezy during take off and landing on flights.
Many years ago my brother, then a Royal Marine gave me some travel pills that the marines were issued with 1called "Avomine" I have never seen these on view at a chemist but on asking they have always been available.
These have solved all my woes, I can happily use any form of transport after taking one of tbese pills or one every 24hours for prolonged travel more than this does cause me serious drowsiness.
If sea crossings are a source of concern to Tam,I would highly recommend this product but whether he could actually find tbem at this point I wouldn't like to say but before his next trip I would strony recommend keeping a packet stashed in the moho.
Years ago when sailing in the Canary Islands we were introduced to Biodramina and have used it ever since for sea sickness. It’s amazing. Unfortunately it can cause sleepiness so we buy Biodramina C which also contains caffeine. We have only ever bought it in Spain but something similar may be available in Greece.

Yeah Etna has had flames coming out the top for a few weeks ...seen some nice pics of it
It's been active for many years. I went mountain biking on Etna and the surrounding area with a local guide about 12 years ago, the top was roped off at a certain height. The guide gave us directions to a little road where you could see the lava flows after dusk, it was impressive then but you don't have to wait for darkness at the moment!! :):)

Tam if you have an electric kettle (don't think you have) worth taking on board with some brewing gear, there are mains sockets in the cabins. Otherwise it costs a fortune on a 22 hour crossing.

I’ll be very interested to see how you get on with passport stamping etc as I’m just about to head back out to bring van back (banner batteries permitting) now I’ve had my first jab. They seem to be saying that 3 weeks after first jab one is 95% protected so won’t have to worry about getting Covid. Can’t wait to see a bit of Greek sun....might hang about for a few months if it’s nice...good luck with the sea voyage...it will seem a lot longer than the Bari/Igamonitsa crossing I think...

Yeah it will be interesting to see if they stamp it or not. The ferry is about as long as the Portsmouth to Santander one so im not particularly looking forward to it especially as last time i was sick as a dog but didn't have to go straight to a covid test when getting off the boat like i do this time

Never mind the junk food Tam, have you packed a couple of bottles of drinking water, to rinse your mouth, in case you are sick? Also buy some chrystalised ginger to chew on, failing that I think I would shave slivers of ginger root to suck. (Ginger is a great preventive of all forms of motion sickness).
Good luck for the crossing, some wet wipes and kitchen roll might also be useful in case the pups are ill.
I always found it was betterto have something in my stomach to throw up rather than retching on an empty stomach, (thinking of the pups there).
If all else fails ENJOY It. The anticipation is probably far worse tban the actuality. 😊🤢👍👍
