Those of you that do the crossing to Greece on a regular basis from Italy, which crossing do you recommend & why? We have a dog so would prefer to stay in our motorhome, looked at prices for late April out & back in July for Ancona to Igoumenitsa and it's coming in at a smidge under €700. Eek!

Apart from once, we have always used Anek/Superfast to travel to Crete. They seem much more dog friendly than Minoan and their 'camping on board' means that you can stay in your motorhome as opposed to Minoan's 'camping on board' which means you have to stay in a cabin. We normally sail from Ancona to Igoumenitsa (rather than Patras) and then travel cross country to Piraeus to catch the ferry to Heraklion, Crete - this is mainly because it's better for the dogs as they don't always do their business on the ferries. The ferry from Piraeus to Heraklion doesn't have camping on board so we then get a pet friendly cabin at great expense but I won't put my dogs in the dog kennels on board.

Oscar that's Greek Easter weekend. Everybody tries to get home for Easter bigger than Christmas for the orthodox.
Otter Spotter that was for an EU recognised passport. Supposedly after investing something like €1m. Nice little earner for the cyps until the EU eventually made them stop and they have had to revoke some they issued . Work on a lot of the highrise flats on limassol seafront has stopped because there is now onone with that sort of Money who is daft enough to buy off plan.
You can apply of residency if you have a property but not automatic and you have to live there for 5yrs to then apply for permanent.

I've been here just commenting on other threads as there wasnt much to report on this one.... weather has been good back up to around 16-18 daytime in shade and around 12-14 overnight.

Moved on a bit today to a spot up a dead end road near franchiti cave on the outskirts of kranidi. Nice little spot for a day or 2

Knackered now ...just back from a hike along the rocks to the prehistoric cave of Franchiti ....pretty hard going from here and then carried on after the cave on a much easier path to another wee chapel ( think im gonna make a calender kappele of peloponnese for next year) and then back so a couple of hours climbing ...

You sure are pretty confident with it to have it over the water. How did you nearly lose it?

It is hard to get an idea of the depth Tam.. Just ( roughly ) how deep are they !! ??

Hmm im not the best at guessing ...but id say maybe 50 -75 feet maybe 100

Very cool. I'm jealous of the variety of terrain and countryside you have there. There's not many footpaths here and the landscape is rather samey. Certainly would consider Greece for a trip seeing your pics.

I can see what the attraction of Greece is to you.
As someone whose mobility is now limited through age and ill health I am extremely unlikely to have the opportunity to visit these places myself. Being able to share your adventures and journeys through your postings on here means a great deal to me. Thank you Tam

The peloponnese is very beautiful ill definitely be back hopefully next year ...not really had a chance to see the rest of greece yet but plenty time to explore that another time. Weather has been overall very good and this is meant to be the worst month so should only get better.

Headed a bit south to just west of porto cheli to an old abandoned holiday resort....it was on park4night and the reviews sounded amazing but it was a bit of a dump so i had a walk about took a few pics and moved back a few km towards town and stumbled over a nice beach spot so ive parked up there.
