Swing out cycle racks any advise please.

Hi we live in East Devon and wanting to fit a “swing out” cycle rack on the back of our Malibu van which is a 640 model.

I have spoken to several “normal” towbar fitters who have never seen or heard of a swing out. Does anyone know of any good tow bar fitters who would have experience of a swing out. Don’t mind travelling to get a proper job done.

Another problem I have is that I am not quite sure how they fit. Do fit directly on to chassis or on to a an already installed normal tow bar.

Hope some one can help TIA

We had a swing out fitted to our AS Kingham. Fitted by Lincoln Towbar Centre at Bracebridge Heath. Telephone Amy or Phil on 01522 524444. As we frequently change MH and cars, they have fitted numerous tow bars for us and Amplo Levellers. Great company and very reasonably priced.

Hi
We have an Atera 3 rack on a normal tow ball on an Autosleeper Kemerton. We use a bike and a trike?
The Atera rack slides back and spins on the ball to allow very easy full access to our back doors. Essential as it’s how my wife leaves with the dog in a morning whilst allowing me to remain in bed until a respectable time😂😂
Thank you Rooky Vanner for saving me the task of starting this thread. I quite agree with you. The advantages I would add are that the Atera system on a towbar is both lighter and less expensive than the full monty you have mentioned. We have a Peugeot campervan and the doors open on side hinges and either door can be opened with ease by swivelling the bikerack on the balljoint. I use a bit of silicone grease on the ball joint which makes the swivelling easier and the bikes still stay in position when driving. Just one thing - even if you are only carrying two bikes (like us) you still need to get the Atera 3-bike unit so the sliding rail is long enough to get it away from the doors. Our bikes have been carried this way without issue through the Balkans down to Greece and then to the South of France. No hesitation in recommending.
