Sutherland councillors agree motorhomes and campervans should be banned from parking overnight in council-owned car parks.

If landowners were to open an aire of some sort they want to make loads of money and quickly, they don’t want to work too hard at it either … whatever happened to the long game and making a bit of profit…

like Cottams said there are motorhomes parked out side campsites here in Morocco because they don’t want to pay the €5… yes five euros 🤷🏼‍♂️ but they still want to sneak on the site and use the facilities…😡

No matter what’s done anywhere in whatever country you’ll get some that spoil it for all of us….😒
Exactly this.

I have known people stop on the car park down the road from a campsite and then walk in to use the facilities for free.

I couldn’t do it myself and these are the type of FLT’s that mean height barriers everywhere that makes it difficult for everyone.

Did the NC500 over 10 nights a couple of weeks ago. Mainly parked in quiet lay-bys and left voluntary donations as suggested by Highland council or to the local community who allowed parking. Also spent 2 nights in campsites, which were reasonably priced. We had a good time and the roads were very quiet and were very lucky with the weather. There was very little in the way of cafes and restaurants open, so ended up being a cheap holiday.
Off to Skye next week and not sure if we will find park-ups as easy there.

For the people saying I don't want to park 3 inches from some one in a dusty car park aire. I can assure you there are plenty in Europe that are far from that. Yes such as the camping car park may charge 12 to 15 euros. But the big thing is there's a choice. I've been to some where I've thought this isn't for me paid my 6 euro for the services had a walk round and gone some where else knowing that I can. I also don't mind the odd night being 3 inches for from a foreign motorhome. Meet some great people that way. The for me is just too restrictive for touring

That’s the thing in Europe though, if you don’t like somewhere there’s another one not far away, you can’t do that in the uk because you’ll have to book or it’s all full up because it’s late or there’s just nowhere else..

We are in Norfolk at the moment, on a campsite. 🤪

I don’t like the price, I don’t like the noise, but the non metered electric and water tap on the pitch means nice long showers and deep washing up bowls.

Very limited parking anywhere though and not a chance of wilding. Height barriers, everywhere!

Not much point in having a Motorhome if you have to book stays, defeats the object of having a Motorhome.

Neist Point lighthouse is a must especially on a clear night, the sunsets can be amazing over the outer hebrides

yep moor and moor park ups are getting banned .i think this partly due to few things .there is a few genral public that think every one who has motorhome is loaded and flash and should be be putting moor money into local economy as the council has spent nothing in there once nice village or town and then they see us lot drivin round and they are cheesed of i get it.but that aint my problem i am not saying i dont spend money but i take every thing with me if i run out of somthing then i will buy it .i am not hear to bail out local economy .all so some one finds a nice park up then they put nice pics on the net ,then every one goes there like sheep then its gets bizzy and we get the knock on effect with rubbish toilet waste locals moaning ect ect,yep its a tricky one i recon one day goin wild will be band and illegal

Oh they certainly do my sister until fairly recently owned a small campsite in the Galloway forest park at Glentrool
I used to have free pitch in return for grass cutting , strimming and checking campers in during the summer months .
Motorhomers would park up in the lay-by just up from the village pub and then walk up and use the showers without paying .
Then you’d get the motorhomes which booked on for one night but baulked at having to pay £3 for EHU then plugged in after dark and jollied off to the village pub .
That happened on 3-4 occasion's , I put a stop to that by going round unplugging any I knew hadn’t paid because at the end of the day it’s THEFT pure and simple.
We also blacklisted their registrations
