Same situation as in Spain, site owners up in arms ... they are pissed off they are losing business. Its a bit like restaurant obliging us to eat at their restaurant rather than eating at home ..

A more accurate analogy would be eating on the street outside the restaurant wouldn't it?

Not a valid objection if you have bought one of their takeaway meals. Saving VAT.
True, but the analogy was with people who have purchased nothing from the business.
Another creeping abuse by restaurants is making solo diners pay twice as much. Who the F do they think they are?
Which restaurants do that? I can't recall using a restaurant with dual price lists.

Surely if it's poor parking or polluting, there are laws already in place to prosecute the offenders ?
Yes there are. As with much of the public sector though, cuts have meant that staffing has been reduced in some areas.
That's why the petition calls on the Scottish Government "to improve licensing enforcement".

To many to mention
Just checked rates (although I prefer not to use sites) August 1 night without electric £22.50. With electric £29.50 same price for 2 or a family of 4 which seems reasonable.
Daughter was on a site in Wales earlier this year, it was pouring down so just looked for a site with electric cannot recall the exact figure but it was £60+

Broken most bits now
If they provide motorhome only basic facilities at a realistic discounted price to reflect that many just want a parking space with bourne then it may be a goer, otherwise they will make plenty of enemies.

With careful planning, there are thousands of places to wild camp, but there are no facilities for disposal of waste. Just a track at the side of a back road, or the carpark of a large supermarket, or park, or 5 miles out of the major town in the country in a quiet lay-by. Sometimes even by the beech road. The way to take advantage is to book in a site on a Monday or Thursday, stock up with water and recharge batteries, dispose of waste and toilet waste, leave as late as you can, 12.00 midday is good. Head to your daytime parking spot. Do your stuff. Then hit the quiet overnight stop at 20.45/21.30 sleeping from 21.00/21.45-05.00/06.00 then again head to your daytime parking spot be there at 06.45ish.just don’t use the same spot every night.

It is rare that a police person will knock you up after 21.00 hours or before 08.00 unless to you are causing an obstruction. Most public park-car parks are open 24/7 and many have toilets, so you could park up at dark, empty your loo, go to bed knowing it’s 06.00 before people start taking their dogs for a walk.
I think as long as you leave no mess, cause no noise or nuisance then you should be fine.

I think there are a lot of people who don't own camp sites want more enforcement. I've been lucky enough to have holidayed in Scotland in campers since I was 7 years old (first one was a Ford escort van with a pop top), but I was appalled by the state of things on Skye this year. I passed a lay by where a motorhomer was brazenly emptying his toilet cassette on the side. The sheer number of motorhomes/Campers wild camping on every little bit of ground was overwhelming. And this was just before the English school holidays.

Spanish campsites where we live are rammed...even have a ,"Waiting for a pitch" area...what they charge makes a reasonable income, speaking from experience a site only needs 6 to 10 pitches accupied to cover running expences....the surplus is profit and future development money... don't know of any sites that have gone down the pan recently...
Further to this cheaper option overnighting on paid Aires/Camperstops are full to busting too...then this leads to wilding....doing it in the cheap....enough said...😀🇪🇦👍🤔🥳🥳🥳🥳
