Summer in Spain (again)

Last night we went out to take photos of the sunset. Unfortunately there was a cloud layer above the sea, but the colours were lovely anyway. The figure in my photos is anon! (Except the first one of Martin, of course 😂).

Heading along the boardwalk. Shooting directly into the sun it looks dark.

Then, the sun still high above the cloud.

Today we went to Crystal Beach and the lighthouse at Laxe. We set off along the boardwalk and rode up high above the beach at Soana (overnighting now banned), before making our way on tracks and tiny roads, to the beach, and then the lighthouse.

The whole of this part of the coast of Galicia is turning out to be our favourite.

😂😂😂

The van across from us. Although it's Belgian registered we think the occupants are Spanish. We're keeping quiet as to the connotations 🤭

Modified to be careful of the rules!

We've decided to have a third night here. Another place that we've gone beyond our self imposed allowance.

We went for a walk along the coast in the direction of Combarro and back along an old linking track through very old fields/enclosures. The sea mist was descending all the time, but its cleared slightly now and we have some blue bits in the sky.

We're definitely leaving tomorrow, but where is not yet decided.

Last night, at bedtime, our fridge began to flash! Martin changed the gas over, but the clicking and flashing continued. The fridge had defrosted, again, and not restarted. Anyway, Martin read the manual 🤭 which confirmed his guess of air in the pipe and eventually we (he) seemed to get it to clear and the fridge fired up.

This morning, though, it was still quite warm and some of the freezer contents were beginning to thaw. So we've had a nice lunch of prawn cocktail starters (with King Prawns) followed by chicken fajita wraps. We have more chicken ready to cook for another day.

The fridge is now working well, again ...

So. We drove the 10km back to the town of Vimienzo because this morning it was raining, again. We needed some shopping and a service point. The new supermarket here has both. We then decided to spend today on the motorhome area here, it being a Saturday, and then ride from here tomorrow and move on when the weekenders have left 🤞🤞.

We've been to the castle because it was open when we got here. Free entry. We bought two pottery drinks "containers" for €10 as a donation towards the area.

Some of the photos, inside, were "illegally" taken. We only saw the "no photos" sign once I'd taken them 🤭. No-one said anything to us.

Mine does this too when the gas runs out. I change the bottle and completely switch off the fridge. Then restart it and it works normally and nothing defrosts. Try that next time maybe.

All the best.

Mine too.

That seems to be the way ours is working (or not working) now. It's not done this in all the years we've had it, until recently.

Mine too.
Like the rest of our 18 year old van...it needs caring for....never a day goes by that I don't have to repair this or that....
We have talked about a new van next year...but this is a workhorse...it drives well and the storage is fantastic....nearing 200,000km, bodywork will get a makeover in the winter, but we don't have time to lay it up..
I've just treated it to another Roamer Lithium, this has doubled our capacity which will make our winter more manageable....charging our bikes is a priority....and with more power, cooking on electric will be investigated more.

We had a quiet night again last night and a very pleasant 35km ride today with no photos.

We then moved 20km to the fishing village of Camariñas. Stef had stayed near the football field but when we arrived there we weren't impressed at all and the internet signal was very poor. We didn't want to stay on the official motorhome area because we tried that once and had an awful night from road noise.

Sooo, we're at the port with another 7 or 8 motorhomes. I'm not expecting it to be quiet here. We'll see 😂.

Tomorrow we're riding along the coast, bypassing the lighthouse but passing the English Cemetery. We're then planning to head towards Muxia.

A few photos from the port.

Contrary to expectations, we had a quiet night. We set off for a ride and ... found this viewpoint. Guess where we're now parked? The answer will be at the end ...

Views across to Muxia, our next stop (maybe).

Anyway, even though we've ridden the gravel coast road from here to the English Cemetery before, it still stunned us again. We're both so glad we didn't miss it out on this trip and we doubled back on our route.

A lovely hedge of huge trees with, bottle brush type flowers.

I have just enjoyed a big catch up with all your travels and wonderful photos. We actually managed to have about a week or so of summer weather here in Ireland, so was out and about (catch it when you can 😂). It’s raining again now though !
Thanks for posting. Jane

We had a bit of an uncertain day today. We arrived at the beach parking near Muxia. It’s a huge area and it was almost deserted except for one small van tucked under some trees and no sign of life. We didn't feel happy leaving the van there whilst we went for a ride, so we went to Muxia's motorhome area. It wasn't too busy there and we easily parked, but there's a circus tonight and tomorrow night right across the road.

Anyway, we went for our ride, which took us back through the beach parking. There was a guy in the small van who said it was OK to park, so we came back and we're here for the night, hopefully.

We had a bit of a mishap negotiating the sand, but nothing serious. No we didn't get stuck.

It's busy here with beachgoers in cars. I think it'll be very quiet later.

Go on then?

You can't throw in a phrase like "English Cemetery" and just leave us hanging!

What's English about it?

Blimey.

No wonder they call it the Costa da Morte

Been waiting for a Local mechanic to contact me regarding have the Air Con re-gassed...providing that's the issue....I hear the pump kick in ....don't fancy driving home in 10 days time without.....
I've arranged for the new Roamer to be delivered around the 9th....in the meantime I'm buying locally some wiring and various other items to make my conversion completed....it will then be a question of battery fitting and new inverter...
Which will be completed at home....short pit stop and off somewhere away from the heat of the Med coast.

The mizzle rolled in again and it was quite damp this morning. We'd already planned a shopping, diesel and LPG fill and loo emptying. All done in one stop at Cee, except for the LPG which was at the Repsol garage 1 km away, but the tanker was making a delivery, so we left it for when we head back in a few days time.

We then decided to be tourists and revisit the Ézaro waterfall. We went there during Covid and were limited to where we could go. Unfortunately, today we arrived just behind a tour bus, so were limited to where we could go! It made a pleasant 40 minute diversion from where we parked on the main road.

We then drove a further 15km to a grass parking a few minutes walk from Carnota beach. No beach views though. We can see a rocky mountain when the mist clears. We've had a mix of mist and sun for the last few hours. Coast exploring later.

We've had a stroll down to the beach. It's a huge area with boulders and a Lagoon, then a dune before the sea.

We're going to park in the village of Carnota tomorrow to go for a ride. We'll visit the huge horreo (approximately 33 metres long) and then head down to the beach parking afterwards.
