Suggestions for our trip to France in May 2023

Stayed on an aire in beuvron eu auge last night, what a fantastic quaint village. Well worth a look if passing by. Our time has nearly come to an end with just 1 more night in France left before having to make our way back to the tunnel for our crossing tomorrow lunchtime. The time has flown by and without planning a single stop in advance and with the help of the funsters on this thread we have found some amazing places, seen some fantastic sights and literally run out of time. I wish we had more time as i am sure we have just scratched the service on places to go and see in France. Thanks to everyone who posted and gave advice, until the next time. (y)

Stayed in Dinan last night which was a mistake, very very noisy constant racing and people outside at all hours. Too tired to move as didn't arrive till late in the evening but one to avoid in the future. On the plus side it's a very scenic town.
Did you stay in the Aire by the bridge near the port? We stayed there a few weeks ago and it was ok, but we found a free Aire a couple of miles away through the port area and up the hill the next day as we needed to empty our wc cassette.

Yes and that was a huge mistake, didn't see another aire to be honest. Was it across the bridge when you come out of that aire so away from the town? We are over 3.5t so cannot drive down by the port as I think there is a sign with a Iimit on it

Dinan Port - what a fantastic place. Unfortunately the bin men woke us up around 7am.

We took a short walk into the port area

We then followed these signs in the motorhome as we wanted to see how far the camp sites were as we thought about returning some time

And found a park up for about 5 motorhomes near the entrance to a campsite about 3 miles from the town. It has WC emptying point and fresh water for free!

If you have electric bikes or are fit enough to pedal down and up the steep hill, it's worth considering.

When we left the free Aire, it took us along a different route with no weight restrictions from what I remember. If you do a Google search or a what three words search, you might find a suitable route. I think it took us back to the junction before the Dinan turn off we took originally.

PS the free Aire was big enough for half a dozen, poss more motorhomes - I reckon up to 8 or 9 m long.

Brittany?

It‘s a lovely part of France with nice French people. They are related to the Welsh which explains that. (y)

Other than that as suggested Normandy is good with the landing beaches and Bayeux if you want to see the tapestry ( although be careful we we’re stuck behind a couple of pain in the arse yanks who studied ( and commented upon) every bloody scene:mad:
Always Brittany. MoHo Heaven on Earth.💖

Back home now, the return crossing on the tunnel was like clockwork. The tunnel is so much better than the ferry, shame it's so expensive.

Also the mango/fulli toll tag worked flawlessly again, no issues at all with any of the tolls we went through which was quite a lot considering how short our stay was. Roll on retirement
