Street Scams and Crime Prevention

To avoid fuel worry I always carry a 5 litre can (full) of diesel
The only tine I used it was at Dieppe last year when one jobsworth decided that I couldn't carry it onto the ferry.................

Just remember you are just as likely or even more so to get scammed here as in Europe.
Or even sitting in your own home.
True.

Was in London for a meeting last week, and took a wander around Parliament.

Crossing over the bridge, there's about half a dozen carts with hot coated almonds and some other nut I can't recall.

All took cards. But not a single price in sight. Bet they were a tenner at least!

And both sides of the bridge had an old bloke on a stool with a series of pictures, appearing to be handpainted on canvas. Like you might see in Paris.
Both had the same pictures!

It’s a good tip, same with a car at home. We once had that night time call that you don’t want to get. Youngest son at Uni in hospital. Fortunately it was something my Dad had got in the habit of over 20 years previously when my Mum was dying and it had always stuck in my mind.
Same here. I got called early one morning many ears ago to take my non-driving sil to a hospital across the country where her mum had been rushed after having a heart attack. The entire journey I was petrified we’d arrive too late and I was very thankful not to I’ve to stop to fuel up on the way.
In 2019 I got a 3.30am call to a family friend in hospital two hours away. Again, no fuel worries.
And when we had that ‘diesel shortage’ a while back, I had a six hundred mile range sitting in my car and the same again in my van, purely because I top the car up regularly, and the van just before reaching home after any trip away.

DFDS? I hope you threw the can away as the sign at dunkirk states
"no spare fuel containers"
Only read it as my wife pointed it out & asked what it was I had on the back ?
You mean the jerry cans full of diesel?

My outward ferry was Brittany, I was asked then if I had any fuel in cans. I replied 5 litres of diesel then told that was OK - their limit was 5 litres, no more.

DFDS don't let you carry spare diesel, but don't ask or check if gas is on

As for handbag snatching, I never realised that 23 screwed up tissues were valuable enough to pinch.
If anyone tried to snatch my wife's handbag they'd end up with a bad back, they certainly wouldn't get far :ROFLMAO:

I've got a neighbour who's always got 6, five gallon drums of diesel in the back of his pickup, used to be pink in colour. A bit OTT if you ask me :whistle2: :ROFLMAO:
