The same problem has happened after 2 years. Van started then stopped after 30/40 seconds. Last time the garage changed the fuel cut off and swapped some relays about. Does anyone have a diagram of the relays. The relays on this van are under the glove box which requires taking the panel off under the glove boxes No access through the fuses. Just wanted to check it’s not just a sticking relay

Check that you have good voltage at the fuel cutoff solenoid, and you should be able to hear it operate

If you suspect the fuel cut off solenoid its very easy (at least on the the 2.5td it is) to remove the internal plunger that cuts off the fuel and try to start without it fitted. You will need to stall the van to stop the engine afterwards but its an easy way to determine if the solenoid is faulty.

Hi, thanks for the reply’s The fuel filter has the rubber button on top (it’s 27 years old) could well be leaking air. The filter has been changed on service. The fuel cut off solenoid is not easy to remove on the 1.9 TD you need to remove a few bits to get to it . Should just be able to get multimeter onto it to check voltage. Will check out tomorrow.
