Spring into summer in Spain

It's grey and gloomy so we're going home. Rain is forecast for the next few days so we're better off at home. We'll stay there over Easter now and hopefully my new passport will also arrive in the meantime.

Shorts and T shirts here in sunny Norfolk.

It's Costa del sun here in Brighton! I think we've had about 3 days of rain since arriving back last week of Feb and almost unbroken sunshine for the last few weeks. Sorry but it's not often we get to gloat to you over there 🤭

Enjoy it whilst you've got it 🌞

Happy bunnies here, no water ingress through the rooflight 😊😊

We do have a faulty folding solar panel so that's going back for a refund. We need a replacement for the summer though, so that's another job for Martin.

I've spent the morning planning our summer trip. We're hoping to go west and loosely follow the route of the Via de la Plata as far as Salamanca and then head into northern Portugal and then back into Galicia, etc. We cycle toured the VdlP in 2013 on normal mountain bikes and I've dug out a Blog I did at that time. It's nice to see that we haven't deteriorated too much 🤣. I'd like to ride some of the tracks we rode then, but this time on circular routes from the van.

But before we do summer, we have another shorter trip to fit in. That one may be up into Castellon. I really should plan that first 🤔

Not a bad start to today, so the washing machine was fired up and I got a load of washing out on the roof. We then managed to squeeze in a bike ride. We e pected to have to ride on roads but, once we'd seen the first gravel track, we decided they were dry enough to ride.

The wildflowers (weeds according to gus-lopez as told to my by Jac) were beautiful and the almonds are huge already.

We'd just got back to where we park our van when it started to rain. By the time I got the washing off the roof my dry washing had wet patches 🤬. It's now drying on an airer.

I've begun the planning for the next trip and it's looking good. Some new places to explore and some places to revisit. Hopefully once Semana Santa is over we'll be able to get back out for a month or so.

Easter is looming...our coastline will be rammed with visitors, our resort will fill up too.
If all's well here come the Monday after Easter we will be off for an extended trip..
Still waiting for Judith's passport and perhaps a new solar from Renogy...
The Allpowers one I've used for nearly a year is failing... providing only 50% of the 200w rating..however the twin 200w mounted on the roof is proving to be a great choice...getting rid of the Oyster Sat to provide space for solar..
New roofvent is a good buy...no water ingress and this one opens too...that's an improvement.
Having Air con checked tomorrow..it was repaired last year and re-gassed but not working again... essential here now the temperature is rising..🤔🌨️

If it lost the gas then it has a leak. Get the system checked using the special dye they have.
Had it repaired whilst in Galicia last summer...
Here in Murcia we have a very good mechanic who does the stuff on the MH and the car...it's a Spanish local single bay family business...he will check the obvious tomorrow and sort after Easter if not possible.

If they put the dye in the last time, they can easily detect the source of the leak now.

Morning all, getting busy where our apartment is located..very rarely see English speaking Kids on holiday..but they are here with mums and dads..
MH remains in the sick bay...leak on, or near air con condenser....told garage to keep van until a repair is complete... everything will close down here from Tomorrow or Thursday until next Monday
Bikes on car our standby alternative is the course of action...and of course our apartment will get more use..had a visit from Nigel Crompton who lives not too far from here...I donated the salvaged parts of the Hymer Roofvent I changed last week...just love re-cycling rather than putting in bin or asking a few euros..
That's all folks..

What Martin didn't say was that you can tell the holidaymakers. They are all walking around in their holiday clothes, shorts and tee-shirt or vests, whilst we're just getting round to removing jackets and managing with fleeces 🤣

So we loaded the bikes on the back of the car, put the "to be returned" freestanding solar panel, suitably packaged, in the car and set off for Alhama. We picked up a light to hide the wiring in the van ceiling, dropped off the panel and headed towards the blue in the sky.

We parked up and offloaded the bikes and had a nice road and track ride up into Sierra Espuña. The bar/restaurant La Perdiz was open so we stopped for coffee and shared a delicious sandwich of hot pork, cheese and tomato on a toasted barra.

The old tuberculosis hospital, abandoned years ago, is now (allegedly) going to be renovated to become a hotel.

The Nisperos (loquat) are ripening and the first fruit on the figs (breba) are growing.

From La Perdiz we cycled past the other restaurant on that side of Espuña. Fuente del Hilo used to be a small stone building but it's now been renovated and is unrecognisable. A family of wild boar used to visit the old place but, unfortunately, they were culled when a female with young and a child, sent amongst them by stupid parents for a photo opportunity, clashed.

We continued back into the mountains where I kept stopping to take photos of the flowering plants.

Rosemary, thyme, asphodel, cistus.

Then I kept stopping to look at the views and we watched an Eagle (possibly Booted) flying and returning to a tree.

The Eagle was in there, honest.

We descended down to the canal and rode along it heading back to the car.

These trees just had to be photographed and also the building above which we've never seen in its present state. We always thought it was a farm, but it looks more than that now. I'll ask our friend, Angéla 🤔😊

In that Parque we’ve had the boars follow Sharon one day in February, so very quiet, she was picking fallen pine cones and had them in a carrier bag. I think the boar thought she had food for it as it was near one of the restaurants so guess people would feed them.
