better to leave the good lady on the policy even if she never drives you never can tell whats around the corner
You can always ring up and put her on in an emergency. BUSBY.

If I had a missus that refused to drive the MH home in a medical emergency but was perfectly capable of driving a vehicle... I wouldn't have a missus when I got back..
For some Andy, driving anything big like a 8mtr, 5.5T MH is very daunting. Add LHD to the equation, and that takes it to another level. It's not everyone who has the confidence to feel that they would be in control of a large vehicle. :(

It's easy for me, ie, experienced in driving Fire Appliances, 44T Artics, Hi Liner Coaches, 74 seater Double Decker Buses, etc, but my wife has never driven anything larger than a Ford Granada, so it's unfair to expect her to just get on with it. :(

Cheers,

Jock. :)

My partner has been on the van policy since the summer holidays, just in case she ever has to drive (illness/injury). Didn’t have any effect on the cost of the policy and I expect it wouldn’t if I ever took her off.

She has driven vans and minibuses in the past and had no issues when I jumped in to the passenger seat on Tiree’s narrow roads ?

As most have said, If your partner does not want to or will not drive the MH then its better that he/she is not on the insurance, as to start driving when there is a crisis situation will merely add to the stress of the arrangement.
If we had an issue whilst away, either have the van repatriated by the insurance or pay for a friend/family member to come out and drive it home.

My wife has driven previous vans but the A. Class puts her off. I keep telling her it's easier.
Looking at getting her a few hours instruction with one of the local HGV training schools in our van.
