Sports people with charisma

It's been said before but the characteristics that make for the highest level of sporting success (single minded focus and drive) don't tend to result in the roundest, most vibrant personalities. I think this has got worse as people have started their kids younger which is becoming required to be competitive - Lewis Hamilton is a good example, starting karting at 6, or whatever.

The competition also keeps increasing through new countries lifting out of poverty over time and increased globalisation in communication and culture.
The natural talent required to reach the top without excluding everything else from childhood gets relatively rarer.

Inevitably Rossi's are going to happen less and less.
