VW lt35 1995
Hi, I have just bought an elderly Vw lt35. There is no display/control panel for the leisure battery, I’ve bought one to fit. The seller left me a hand written bookie which says that if you run the engine the LB will charge but you have to remove o key from port 1 to port 2???? I don’t have a multimeter handy but a friend checked and said it wasn’t charging, is anyone aware of this setup

I'm in Whitchurch, Cardiff.
I could have a look if you wanted ?
Also in a few weeks I'm changing my 2 x 100AH lead acid leisure batteries for lithiums.
Both leisure batteries are working fine.
You are welcome to have them if they are of any use to you as otherwise I'll just be throwing them out.

Brilliant, I have to get it into the garage at some to get a new gear linkage put on. I think I want it completely re done as far as the wiring goes, I’ve got a diesel heater to go in, a control panel and I want to put a solar panel on the roof

Hi mate, it’s been on charge most of the day, I got a meter, was showing 9v before and when I left it it was over 12v. How long should I leave it on charge? It’s got a window that is supposed to go green when fully charged???
The voltage should start rising immediately you put it on charge if it stays at 9 v for more than 15 min I would disconnect it immediately or it will probably start getting hot with risk of explosion.
If the dot in the window is red its a bin job. Only starter batteries have those so not good for hab electrics.

Those switches are just on/off, the split charge relay won't give much charge its wired with far to small cables.

No problem.

It did rise to over 12.5 after a few hours. It’s off now, I’ll check it tomorrow
