Lots now
We have had 2 notices from 2 different bodys, lambeth Council and the metropolitan police.
One for driving in a bus lane and one for a speed camera.
One was when we where in Ibiza and one from the other week when we where in the lake district.
It's our scooter that has been cloned, i.e they have my number plate on there scooter.
I viewed the pictures and it's definitely the same model but we don't have a front screen and we have a top box.
We had to provide a crime number to start the process of denial that its us, otherwise they reject your statement.
It's a bind especially as we are going to be away August to October , so no access to our post.
Let's see what happens though as I haven't received confirmation of squashing of fines from either of them.

I rented a car from a Newbury firm for a couple of days.
Later I got a speeding ticket for an offence committed in Southend on Sea 👀😎

The hire car people had provided the police with my name and address details THEN charged me a £30 admin fee.

Dopey buggers. I wasn’t impressed. A simple check by then of the total miles I had driven would’ve eliminated me. I’d only done local commuter miles.
Not a day trip to the far side of the country. 🤬
IIRC I think the return date & time would’ve taken some doing. Not aids but there was a couple of reasons it couldn’t have been me. 🤷‍♂️

It took a few letters but I did get an apology letter from the police force of that SoS area 👍

Very tempting to remove number plates from all vehicles and get a £100 fine if stopped. Can't be cloned, can't get LEZ charged, can't be congestion charge charged - what protection is there in place for us honest folk???
You left out that there are also no points for the offence and that you have "7days to rectify the lack of plates"
If you areawkward you then take it to be inspected and signed off by police then remove them again

My son got lots of tickets/fines when his bmw was cloned . I emailed every office they came from with a picture of the car sitting in the drive with the sunroof open .
The cloned one didn’t have one so nothing to pay and the cloned one was nabbed easily too .

Good luck getting a crime number. I had my old transit number plate cloned a few months ago. A very similar vehicle had the cloned plates and was being used in the congestion zone in London. Luckily I had a ring doorbell to provide pictorial evidence of my vans and my movements at the times in question. The police wouldn’t generate a crime number for me because apparently cloning a plate won’t be reported unless the vehicle can be proven to have committed or been involved in a crime!! I tried to report it locally and to the met and both kicked it back. I have to submit evidence for the first 4 fines and then they wrote to me and said I would get no further fines. Vehicle is probably still out there not paying tax or getting MOTd

I just did it online with action fraud and a crime number is generated instantly.

Well we are now on 3 fines all for the same area, we now have 3 crime numbers and yet no one has contacted me. Is it just file your report so you get a crime number then go away.

Can well all have copies of your numberplate we can speed, use bus lanes and go into lez zones free of charge and all you need to do is keep getting crime numbers.
For a small fee of course

On that basis I'd be inclined to park where you like and fill up for free!
