but preferably not on the back wall where somebody fitted ours.

The heavy (Hymer fitted) jack is also on the back wall. :swear:
Same with Burstner…..

firstly i relocated the jack and tools, back to under the drivers seat….then popped the spare wheel on a carrier…..holes already drilled in the ducato chassis..

as for access, just pop up the levellers and wind the wheel down…

advantages are weight is much better distributed, and space is afforded for garagey things…

Undo two bolts and down it comes. Nice job for a AA man on a rainy night ....
The AA may just choose to change the wheel to one of those get you home ones, faster and safer don’t assume they will crawl under your van.

I made my own . Two pieces of electriians uni strut bolted between the chassis rails. Then bought the ducato spare wheel carrier without the jack kit and bolted that to the unitstrut and bolted the winder to the chassis rail. Just winds down like normal ducato one.

Same place as ours, but we installed the standard Fiat wind up spare wheel holder between the two transverse chassis by bridging it with a piece of box section.

Consider an el cheapo spare wheel cover from the usual online shopping outlets (less than a tenner) it’ll make everything much easier to handle if you do have to use it in anger. ;)
Hi
Would like to do the same, any chance of some details and how you fixed the box section. 🙂
Cheers

Not seen these before - are they designed to fit all sizes/configurations or wheels? I'd be worried that would be up to a 3.5 tonne or above van.

Don’t know about the weight but it has a multi fit spacer which the wheel is then attached.

they fitted one to my transporter a few years back. Seems they have version 2 now. You would have to ask specifically I guess to be certain

Due to its unique innovative hub design the wheel fits approximately 90% of cars that don’t carry a spare wheel as standard. The wheel hub design is easily upgradeable to suit new models as they are released ensuring we have solutions for the future.

“We have now developed a second-generation Heavy Duty version of the Multi-Fit wheel to fit larger Cars, SUVs Vans and more. With a higher load rating the wheel can carry more weight and is reverse compatible with the existing wheel so we can even offer a solution for double punctures or even triple punctures where a spare is provided!

Such is the success of the Multi-Fit wheel roadside assistance clubs across Europe are now using the AA Multi-Fit wheel as a solution.”
